First Jeep Purchase

Couldn't turn down the deal my local dealer was offering for my trade in. Drove home last night in a 2015 GC High Altitude w/ 5.7L in Granite Crystal. Love it already. Just thought I'd pop in and say hello.

Anyone know a good shop in Denver for window tints? And what's the deal with the rear windows already being darker? Sorry for the noob questions.

Thanks,
Rob

Re: First Jeep Purchase

It's factory tint on the rears, common on a lot of cars nowadays and Mopar products. They don't tint the front due to driver visibility and state laws. It's also actual tinted glass not tint film, so if you want to go darker, they will overlay or you can just match the fronts.

Congrats on the ride, enjoy your stay.

Re: First Jeep Purchase

Thanks for the info! I read somewhere last week that it was tinted glass and not actual film. I'll have to find a shop that can match cuz i think the tinted glass is plenty dark already.

Re: First Jeep Purchase

Keep in mind the difference between tinted glass and film is privacy vs. UV protection.

While the tinted glass looks good and may keep the car cooler, it has little effect on UV rays and reflecting heat. If that concerns you, then you can add a clear film on the back windows and a dark film on the front.

Congrats on the purchase LOVE the High Altitude GC! As far as tint, if you want to match the factory rear tint its right at about 20-25% film. When you go to your shop just tell them to match the factory tint as close as possible and they will know what to do.

As far as your statement about asking whatsup with the rear windows already being darker I'm confused. Do you mean why are they already tinted? Not to be a complete prick, but surely you cant tell me that you have never, not once noticed that every single minivan, SUV, pickup truck pretty much ever made has the rear windows tinted from the factory

Haha Yes I've noticed that. I should've been more clear. I just wasn't sure if those rear windows were actually tinted with film or if it was the glass itself that was tinted. One of the replies above gave a great explanation. I plan on matching that % for the front windows.

Ok cool I gotchya now. Yeah all factory tinted windows are actual tinted glass and not film. The cool thing is that shops can do a pretty good job of getting them to match almost perfectly.
