I am not liking the new direction at all..whats with that goofy lower fascia? And the grill looks like the compass. Time to buy a 13 and ride it out until the next *refresher*

What, the nav screen does not tilt out to insert a CD/DVD? Not everyone uses an iPhone, iPod or i***. The fact that a CD/DVD player would be an option, when it has been a standard for so many years is going backward - and to change the front end like they did - no longer awesome - now awful.

Just my $0.02. If I saw it in person I might like it.

On one hand I hate the "optional" cd player, but on the other hand we need to progress and eventually this will be the norm. As long as I can plug in a SD card or connect my phone/tablet, I'm good with this change.

My mother in law just bought the Dart with the 8.4" screen. The CD/DVD player in the Dart is in the center console.

Why do we have to order the air lift to get in the Outdoor package II Qudra Drive II As far as i know the air lift only is usable in low range. Why can not the air lift be optional? I have a Qudra Drive 05 with 52k and have run 4000 plus miles on smow and ice roads (not black ice) and Jeep just goes on my goodyear Silent Armor.
Can any one answer why we have to be stuck with the Air Lift If we do not want?

I think the front looks too much like a Compass The interior is pretty nice, but not enough so to trade in my 3 week old Altitude. I'm not a big fan of the taillights either. It's still a pretty good looking SUV, but I like the 11-13 better.

Re: First Look: 2014 WK2 Likes/Dislikes

The only thing I really dislike is the " T-shifter", it just looks out of place to me. The center console just doesn't seem large enough for it. It may look better in person....just my opinion.

I think it is a well thought-out update. Looks like many incremental upgrades. Finally solves the 5-speed tranny question mark that always lived with the WK2 SRT8. Like the increase in towing capacity. Dislike the Chrome window surrounds and wheels. Might finally be a viable alternative to a 2010 CPO BMW X5M at the same price point? Hoping so. Can't wait to hear feedback on the 2014 after some test drives.

I wanted a diesel but not if there is a big upsell (mandatory options) to buy it.

The air lift is usable regardless of what you have the drivetrain set to - 4WD high/low/etc. The higher lift settings will only work up to around 35 mph, but this is not really a problem. It is actually quite a nice system, and gives you great comfort and handling around town but the ability to get a decent bit of extra ground clearance off-road when you need it. The "loading" height is convenient too for shorter/elderly passengers, or really heavy cargo.

As for why you can't buy Quadra-Drive II without Quadra-Lift - who knows. I would think some people buying the less-decked-out trim levels might still want the most capable 4WD system. I imagine QDII would sell well as an option, but some marketing drone obviously thinks otherwise. I am not aware of any technical reason for QDII to be dependent on QL.

Re: First Look: 2014 WK2 Likes/Dislikes

Likes: Larger higher def screen, dash instruments, diesel option (i think), 8 speed tranny (i think)

Dislikes: Recent auto design trend of all manufacturers to go rounded, softer, neutered and jeweled, especially for SUVs. See BMW, Porsche, Acura, Jeep: all are guilty though perhaps customer oriented to soccer mom. Let's not lose aggression and angularity completely, eh? The smiley winged grill and squinty lights are not growing on me as had been hoped. Chrome is last century. I tried the T shifter in a C300 and did not care for the trigger release button but that will likely become a non issue after use.

Bottom line: Gotta give continued kudos to Jeep, the WK2 and recent gen refresh sure looks to be a big hit. Impressive. Carry on.
