Re: First Look: 2014 WK2 Likes/Dislikes

Upon furhter review .... Fiat owns a company called Magnetti-Morelli which I understand is now producing the 14 GC headlights and maybe the rear lights as well. M-M does lighting for many of the high end Euro brands. As to the "Compass Grill", look at GCs from 2000-2003. They had the same body colored grill way back then. So the new GC looks like the Compass whcih looks like old GCs. I like the grill on my 12 better, but the new one will grow on me. Nice redesign really but then I will be staying with my 12 Summit for a while.

I like my 2012 even more
Stripping away the chrome? I don't like that
The rear lights don't look as agressive anymore, they look roundish
The grille looks tiny

Re: First Look: 2014 WK2 Likes/Dislikes

As a whole...I like the Overland. Headlights and putting certain comfort controls on the screen only are my dislikes. If they fix the headlights by 2016 when I'm ready for an update to a newer Jeep. I'll be a happy camper.

Oh yah...the updates to grill and rear grill kill some of the ability to "make it your own" with paint/plastidip0 etc...

Likes:
  • Love the new gauge cluster.
  • The open pore wood is a nice touch.
  • I really like how the summit edition has its own body style.
  • The LED in the tail lights and headlights are well done, not cheesy like others.
Dislikes:
  • I think it was a dumb move for them to move Sport Mode from the dial to the shifter.... I think people actually pay to see that word. It provides a persona of fun to drive to see that word.
Plus, as it is today, Sand/Mud is one stop on the dial. Is there really that big of a difference between those two profiles it warrants they be split apart? Or is this just a marketing thing to make the Jeep seem more Eco/Fuel friendly...
  • The wheels are a step backwards.
  • It is a bummer that some features are only accessible through the touch screen. Would have been a win if they made it touch screen OR voice prompt.

Overall, it was enough for me to at least consider an update. Only thing that turned me off was that I wouldn't be able to keep my current Jeep too.

Re: First Look: 2014 WK2 Likes/Dislikes

Hate:
- Don't like the fact that saddle interior is gone. Actually there is no good interior choices. You either have to go with black or beige (which in person is almost white). Saddle was nice compromise.
- I liked the old front better, rear as well but I think I can live with it.
- black headlight fillers (headlight washers that you cannot get) on Overland which with taxes is 50K unacceptable.

Love:
- Technology upgrades. IMHO this thing is huge!
- 8 speed, hopefully will give better performance
- Diesel in general except hefty price tag.

In my case Love > Hate but not by much.

Likes: 8 Speed auto, 8.4 radio, new dash

Dislikes: no flipper glass, have to buy a sunroof on the Laredo to get the Security and Convenience Group, resulting in having to spend an extra $1,000 for something I don't want. There is no reason these 2 options should be tied together.

Re: First Look: 2014 WK2 Likes/Dislikes

regarding the 14' refresh, every rose has its thorns im sure,

Likes:
refreshed look
new 8.4 nav radio
headlights
straight t-shifter
8 speed tranny ( need to drive one)
new instrument cluster
blue led lighting

Dislikes:
tailights, hate the rounded look plus only running lights are led why not go full led?
no chrome strip on sides= more parking lot dings
no flipper glass, come on.. the GC had this since 96 why remove it??
No Laredo X im sure people would still buy the X if they didnt want limited or overland

I would have to test drive a 14" before i can give my full opinion on the refresh,
even with all the improvements, Ill be happy with my 11' Limited for quite a while.
