Re: First Month was great....one big question?!

My Glasses have a little bag that doubles as a cleaning cloth. I keep that bag up in the eye glass holder and either I put the glasses in the bag or the bag acts as a rattle blocker.

I use the frog skin bag that came with my Oakley's, no sound at all.

I agree. I was hesitant to put holes in my bumper, but here in MD it is required and you will get pulled over (it's happened to me a few times with other cars).

So I reluctantly drilled holes in the dimples on the bumper. Then, I ran the screw through the frame and the license plate. I then added a rubber washer around each screw. I also added numerous 3M, self stick rubber pads to the back of the license plate. I made sure the bumper was free of debris and I put the plate on.

I did this for the rear as well. I've also done it on other cars I've owned (front & rear) and have never had an issue (di this on my wifes 2010 R350 as well).

I/we go through car washes mainly in the winter, MD goes nuts with the salt, but I make sure I use touchless and I get the basic wash - just enough to get the heavy crap off. I read somewhere that the paint needs like 6-months to properly cure so you should only hand wash during that period, whether that is true or not I don't know. But my point is that I've never lost one of the self stick rubber pads.

Thanks, mhassler. That is the solution I'm going to go with. Elegant in its simplicity but it sounds very effective. +rep along with my gratitude.

That MD plate install plan was a good call, mhassler. I was surprised that I had a hard time locating actual 3M pads but I found a decent substitute and put them along the contact points on the back of the plate. I had a license frame with 4 holes and didn't like the look with the lower two holes empty. I had some universal panel/trim retainers on hand so I pushed them into the lower holes and they worked great to keep everything from rattling and provide a nice finished look. For those who don't know, these retainer plugs look like big plastic thumbtacks with ridges that grab when you insert them. Here's a photo of the plugs.
