i want to hear how others are doing off road. particularly how the guys that put 275/60/18 tires on did. rub or no rub?
Go South young man! No, seriously, take some of the trails South of Vegas. There are some serious hills, terrain that varies from rocky to sand, and finally a great salt flat you'll come across sooner or later. (which you can see from 93 not too far from the state line)

So, today I mentioned to my wife that we should take a trip to the Indiana Dunes and see what the Jeep can do up there. Her reply, "We DO have a sand mode!" Man, I love her
It's not about the WRX and flooded roads. It's about the positioning of the air intake on the WK2 and for *some* of them, the lack of a rubber gasket that *should* have been installed at the factory. There is a good thread about this somewhere with pictures, but I'm too lazy to search for it right now.

Make sure, next time you ford water to take a video! I want to see the water splashing up and over the your ride.

BTW... nice collection of whiskey from your travels!

The air intake on the Jeep is higher than the roof of a WRX. If not higher, it's pretty close.

Even without the rubber thing, which my Jeep does not have, I don't see how a splash would do anything to allow water into the engine. Even getting a little bit of water past the air filter and into the engine won't do anything. I worry more about the door seals leaking and ruining my carpet more than hydrolocking my motor when going through puddles.

I had an old 1962 Buick Special and in the owners manual it said to pour water in the carb to "Decarbon". hehehe
