Re: First Oil Change 5.7

You think the same way I do. Do it yourself and get it right! To have the know how to do your own work is a major plus! Been doing it for 30 years.

Re: First Oil Change 5.7

My dealership offers 4 free oil changes per year for 3 years 36,000 miles. That's 12 oil changes which roughly comes out to being an oil change every 3,000 miles. Plus 4 free car washes at a near by hand car wash. Now, that doesn't mean I'm going to take that up, since I love working on the Jeep myself. This is a new dealership so I guess they're trying to treat their customer really good and to heopfully bring in more business. The sales people and everyone else I dealt with were very professional and know their products. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the area. I posted their name in the 'good dealership' thread.

I guess it depends what your looking for. They could have offered free lifetime oil changes and washes. I would have refused and asked for discount on price instead. Which i have done successfully in the past. I just prefer hand washing and waxing on my own. The same with oil changes and all the other maintenance.

I agree, an oil change can be done in 20 minutes after you figure out the vehicle's quirks. And as said before, you know it was done right. Also gives you a chance to look at any other things that may give you trouble.

Re: First Oil Change 5.7

Plus I hate the "can I show you something on your car" conversation that they always have with you in the middle of the oil change. You know, the one where they say your battery has some corrosion on it and may explode any minute now unless you pay for a "battery service" at $49.99 or some other bs. Nissan tried to sell my wife a cabin air filter for $90! $15 at pepboys and 15 minutes later it was taken care of.
