Re: fix a fix?

This is well documented and has been expected for some time now. It's good they are taking action to make this correction as the original fix was flawed.

Re: fix a fix?

Yeh, but why just the 2011 through 2013's. My 2014 also had this recall about the same time my 2011 did a year or so ago but apparently the 2014's are not being RE-recalled. My 2014 is an early 2014 actually delivered in May 2013 so I'm a little concerned being that it had the same fix as the 2011.

Maybe they are staggering it so they don't get inundated. Maybe start with the old ones and work their way up to the newer ones? Not sure that's just a guess, I was wondering the same thing though. Just hope they get it right this time for all that need it fixed. I think it's only been luck so far that one of those things has not caught fire in someone's garage yet with them sleeping upstairs. Hope they put a little urgency on it to get accomplished and don't dragged it out for many months because parts aren't available like last time.

FCA got fined 105 million dollars by the NHTSA in 2015 for the extremely poor handling of 23 recalls involving 11 million vehicles. Let's see if they learned anything this time.

Re: fix a fix?

you may have received a notice but the NHTSA recall report (updated) says, "** FCA US expects parts to be available in Q4 2016."

Excluding the '14's makes no sense...I found this in the updated comprehensive
NHTSA Chrysler/FCA Recall Guide that says it is for 11-14....

Parts won't be available until Q4 2016 so that means realalisticly we probably won't see our Jeeps actually going into get the fix until maybe early 2017. So a year to start and probably another year to get most of them through wonder if that will fit within the NHTSA guidelines as acceptable. Where did you find that recall guide do you have a link?

This dealer/press recall communication guide and the 7 other docs on the R71 recall for '11-13 are here but I have attached it if that's all you need. The '14 inclusion reference is on last page, 27. This only shows up on a '11-13 search.

2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE | Safercar | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

If you want to do your own searches go here and input your VIN or year model info. Here's the starting NHTSA recall search page. When you search '14 the P36 is there with 23 documents, I did not drill into them but it does not contain the recall guide.
