Fold-down passenger seat - Yes? No?

Still planning to buy a 2015 diesel when they become available - Limited, AT, Lux, ORII. And I still compulsively "build" it on the Jeep site occasionally (and notice that the price keeps going up).

The last time I "built" it, I noticed that I can now (a) substitute body-color mirrors and (b) substitute the fold-down passenger seat for the power seat. Thoughts on the latter? Coming from a Yukon XL, I like the idea of being able to cram in the occasional really-long cargo item. But I wonder if that probably fairly rare use is worth the trade-off of all the power adjustments for the passenger. Does that trade-off include losing the adjustable lumbar support? Do you also lose ventilation? Heat?

Re: Fold-down passenger seat - Yes? No?

Look at that a little closer... it doesn't appear to me that you can substitute a fold-flat front passenger seat with the Limited diesel configuration you want.

Re: Fold-down passenger seat - Yes? No?

Bubba,

Since you are spending so much time configuring, take the time to read all the notes that are included. Like when you select diesel;

"The REMOVAL of:
  • 8-Speed Automatic 845RE Transmission
  • GVW Rating - 6,500 Pounds
  • Driver Power Memory / Pass Manual Fold Flat Seat

Re: Fold-down passenger seat - Yes? No?

Last time I did it, it offered the delete power seat option after configuring diesel/Lux/AT/OTII - which it didn't used to do. But admittedly I haven't tried actually selecting the option - I'll try it and see what happens. (That'll be great if it's still not an option - then I won't have to decide.)

Well I just went to try it, and now it's back to the old build site. There was a new one up for a while.

Oh well, not to worry. Probably better for wife to have adjustable lumbar support anyway.

It will probably delete the diesel.

Re: Fold-down passenger seat - Yes? No?

I'd go for the fold down seat it the seat comfort / looks are the same. How often does the passenger seat need to be moved a lot anyway? The convenience for long items would be nice.

My parents just got a Grand Cherokee Limited and it has the fold flat seat. The seat is very comfortable and actually sits lower than the power seat so I was more comfortable than if I ride in my own passenger seat (power), and I'm 6'3"+. The fold flat seat looks just like the power seat except for the missing power controls. Heat works on it too.

I have a 2014 Limited eco-diesel with the fold flat front seat, and body colored mirrors. Using that in conjunction with the fold flat rear passenger seat will make for a nice place to haul extended items, and, if I place a bed roll down, makes for a comfortable sleeping area. If I had my way, I would've got a manual driver seat as well, but it's not an option.

If you use Jeeps website, you cannot order the above combinations together with the eco-diesel, but if you go to your dealership you can order it on 2015's.

Re: Fold-down passenger seat - Yes? No?

We also have the fold-flat and my wife has no complaints, is much better than what we traded in, which always had her back hurting. We have been of two 1000 mile + road trips and no complaints, she actually fell asleep several times, which was a blessing

Also have the fold flat, used quite often, and no one has complained including one trip that was 9 hours each way.
