Folding Mirrors?

Hi,

Is there anyway you can make the mirrors automatically fold when you turn on/off the car on a 2012 GC limited?

would be very handy if you could!

Re: Folding Mirrors?

If they automatically folded, they might automagically unfold at the wrong time. Origional idea was to have them fold out of the way if you hit something or if you needed to go through a narrow passage.

To get my RV though an 8 foot garage door I need to fold the mirrors first (and remove a little trim).

Re: Folding Mirrors?

The domestic WK2's do not come with power folding mirrors. Some imported models do have the feature though. If the parts are obtainable swappable I don't know.

Re: Folding Mirrors?

Power folding mirrors would indeed be nice, but not sure about automatic thought. Ice build up could be problematic to motor and/or gears.

Re: Folding Mirrors?

Ice is why GM switched from electric headlight motors on the 67 Camaro to vacuum on the 68s. A vacuum servo won't burn out. Fiero/Corvette/Reatta are torque sensing so a good module will not let an electric motor burn out any more.

Engineers do learn from ladies setting heavy purses on console window switches.

Think we are starting to see why Jeeps are so expensive overseas, they have different equipment.

Re: Folding Mirrors?

There has to be a work-around, the Mercedes ML/GL have that capability. Keep digging, someone has to have an answer for that. It's a great feature.

Re: Folding Mirrors?

I agree, with ever other "bell & whistle" the Overland comes with, it almost seems silly that they didn't include power folding mirrors!

Re: Folding Mirrors?

My WK2 does have power folding mirrors...

I just wish they were automatic though like the ML...

Surely it is just a computer programming tweak??

Re: Folding Mirrors?

Jeep could certainly offer them in the U.S. as well IF they wanted - If it's possible for Ford to offer them on the Explorer...

Yeah really! We got everything else. Why deny us the power folding mirrors.
