For some very very very strange reason.......

.......I found myself test driving a 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit this afternoon.

I love my 2011 Black Summit 4x4 V8 with the Saddle interior. Just 35 months old with 23,000 miles in showroom new condition. But I am getting the new Grand Cherokee itch!!! The 2014's have taken it a step up.

Thinking about a Summit in White, 4x4 but can't decided on V8 (which I have always had) or the V6 which now seems sufficient now - I don't tow anything ever. Then either the interior of Grand Canyon Jeep Brown or Morocco Black....would have thought the Black interior was a no brainer, but that Brown is soooo nice too............. Had black exterior for 20 years but will do white this time.

The group buy prices have me motivated to buy now.......White Summit 4x4 with Brown (or Black) interior and V6 (or V8)?

Argh!!!

Now should I wait for 2015??????????? Come on Milous, spill the beans on the 2015's!!!!!! Please!

If you can wait, I would say wait until 2015 is out.

Re: For some very very very strange reason.......

No major changes for 2015...maybe some little goodies and color options, based on Milous's comments in the 2015 thread. So if you can swing a good deal on a MY14, no harm in that, IMHO.

If you don't tow and don't require the "grunt" of the Hemi, the V6 is a very nice powerplant.

On the interiors, I'd have to choose the brown of the two available, although for me, it's still way too dark. I'd never buy black, that's for sure! But that's me. Other's feel differently.

Re: For some very very very strange reason.......

I have a white '14 Summit with brown interior, so you can probably see where I'm going with this...

I LOVE the brown interior. ZERO regrets.

My previous vehicle was a Mercedes CLS63 AMG that was totaled (other party assumed 100% fault). I was very apprehensive about moving to an American brand since I've always had German makes, but the Summit really holds it's own in this segment.

We have 2 small kids and while the CLS63 was an AWESOME vehicle, it just wasn't that practical. Sure it'll haul the kids, but good luck fitting the strollers and additional stuff in the back. I finally realized that this was the perfect opportunity to be realistic while not losing too much (if any) quality. I lost a TON of performance, but I wasn't expecting another AMG. Comparing the Jeep to the ML and X5, I'm convinced I made the right decision.

Re: For some very very very strange reason.......

Thanks for the feedback guys.....that's what makes this such a great forum!

I test drove a black & black Summit and it is indeed dark. White with Brown makes a great combo. I am impressed with the refinements since the 2011.

If you had a CLS 63 AMG why didnt you just get the Jeep SRT and keep the super car performance?

These SRTS are getting 0-60 times under 4 seconds with very light modification.

"Nice" is probably a good description--sorta like the "nice" girl with the single eyebrow and mustache your aunt wants to fix you up with. With the new 8 speed, the V6 will definitely seem peppier, and it does have the advantage of flex fuel capability.

But as good as the 8 speed makes the V6 feel, the slightly different model on the Hemi will feel even better. It will cost ya for midgrade, but unless gas prices take another trip into orbit, the V8 should return a bit more on resale.

But, judge for yourself. Find their V8 with the most miles on it, stick it in sport mode, and shove right foot towards front bumper.... then see if the V6 invokes similar grins under the same conditions.

They don't have the brown and frost interior available any more on the Summit?

Never did on the MY14...Jeep Brown or Black are the only interior choices for the Summit. That's my single and only complaint about the current generation Summit...and the same complaint I'd have about any vehicle, regardless of cost. I. Don't. Like. Dark. Interiors. The Saddle/black in my MY12 Summit really pushed my limits a huge amount!

Re: For some very very very strange reason.......

Oh, I actually agree, Marlon...the saddle interior really is beautiful. It's the black part that I'm less fond of because it shows the tan dirt so badly and also makes the interior feel smaller to me. If the Jeep Brown interior was just a bit lighter, I'd be a fan. But it's not. So hopefully the MY17 and beyond will have a choice that I'll be happy with since that's about when my next "refresh" will occur.
