Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

I chose the HA Hemi for one reason. The engine sound is far better than the v6.

MPG is important but not the driving factor for me. My other vehicle loves to avg 13 combine and my lead foot loves to feed it.

I bought the V8 because I wanted the HEMI.....that's all.

I noticed that as well on our trip the other day. The exhaust note when passing strings of cars is really amazing.

Wait until you install a CAI. Stomp on it and that engine will roar to life! MPG will suck but the sound . . . priceless!!

OK, I'll bite. What is a "CAI", and why does it destroy your mileage so badly?

Cold Air Intake. It's a whole new air filter, air filter box, and the big tubes between the air box and engine. (usually)

For me that would be useless. There is no such thing as "cold air" in Phoenix in June!

The CAI stands for "Cold Air Intake". It provides an enjoyable engine sound that many folks like. It has zero actual affect on fuel economy and power on the JGC because the OEM intake is already very efficient. But because folks enjoy the sound so much, it makes their foot much heaver and more often "stuck to the floor"...which uses more fuel.

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

I remember we were talking about weight differences at one point on here. I saw this when I was reading the info on the 2017s. The v8 summit GC is 240lbs more than the v6 and the diesel is 420lbs. That's not just engine weight but also includes differences in transmission weights or axles or whatever other equipment maybe different due to the engine.

2017 4x4 Summit
3.6-liter - 4,952lbs
5.7-liter - 5,192lbs
3.0-liter EcoDiesel - 5,372lbs

For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

I've owned both. I like both. I'd go with the Hemi because it's the most reliable but either way you can't go wrong. The Pentastar is more then adequate.

Think about if you were one of the schmucks shopping for a 4Runner. Less HP than the Pentastar and a 5 speed lol (my wife use to have a 2014 Limited 4R, for as long as she could stand it haha)

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

As a brand new owner as of yesterday, I chose the Hemi because its a HEMI !!
Sometimes its not about being reasonable.
