Before I joined today i was running the same calcs but after seeing this i will stop. on my first tank (ran with 87) i did not feel the system was accurate but after my second fill up (89) it seems to be more accurate. I know 87 and 89 wouldnt affect the mpgs but i wanted to see the difference. Note that I also reset the average.

I chose the hemi because I had a 3.7 L in a nitro and I hated every second of it. surprisingly my v8 gets the same (if not better) gas mileage as the v6. i never had the chance to drive the pentastar in a GC but i did in a charger and did not like the delayed response. I cared more about power than the fuel usage.

I don't like the delayed response of the Hemi.

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

Welp... new spark plugs in as of yesterday. I've only put about 25 miles on it so far, but my MPG is reading 5.1 now. The rough idling has ceased to be an issue with the new plugs, at least. I'll check back in after putting in some real miles. Trying to avoid jumping to a conclusion after such a small sample, I was just hoping to see an immediate uptick.

That was one of the big pluses going to the V6 is it doesn't have that dreadful delay in those situations that require instant throttle. It scared me once or twice during my ownership in my '14 Summit V8. The V6 does not seem to have this issue and I have actually purposely tried to replicate it.

That's weird. When I test drove the 2016's my experience was the opposite of yours (and like what RJ Boomin describes). The v6 felt a little numb/delayed (like the torque came in too high on the rpm scale) and the hemi was instant. I drove several of each and ended up buying the hemi as it felt so much better. I wonder if they have tweaked the shift mapping on the transmission since your 14. I have also never experienced any kind of delay in my 2011 RAM hemi, but it has the older 5 speed transmission.

The good ole days of the 5 speed. I personally hate the 8 speed.

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

Don't know if it makes any difference, when I changed my plugs I discounted the battery for about a half hour thinking that the computer would adjust faster to the new plugs. Maybe someone could clarify if this is good procedure or a waste of time.

I actually love it for the most part. I expected the Hemi to be a little better. I didn't test drive before I leased it. I drove the V6 and expected the Hemi to not have a lag. The 8 speed is just hard to get used to. When I put my foot into the gas I expect power and sometimes it's a little dangerous when I'm driving aggressive and it's not there.
