Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

I'm so pleased with the performance and mileage of my HEMI Grand Cherokee, that if I could justify it, I would purchase a Dodge Ram 5.7 HEMI pickup tomorrow. I just don't drive enough miles to warrant spending $30K on a new truck.

That doesn't stop me from looking however. I can't believe the value Dodge builds into their Ram Series pickups for the money. All available with the same Lifetime Warranties the Grand Cherokee's are. Ford, Chevy, Toyota, and Nissan don't even come close. If and when I need a new truck, it will for certain be a Ram HEMI. And I've driven a Ford F-150 for almost 160,000 trouble free miles.

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

No delay here, I think Sport mode wakes it up in a way most people would be happy with if you were in an aggressive driving mood.
I will agree if you leave it in Eco mode and MDS is active you have that delayed sensation waiting for them to wake up. Turn off eco mode and MDS is deactivated which will reduce that delay.

I test drove V6 & V8 GC's, back to back on 3 separate occasions before I ordered mine with the Hemi.

The V6 is absolutely fine. However, when you need to go 15-40 mph, or 50-70 mph the V8 is a little nudge on your right big toe... the V6 has to kick down or wind out a little higher.

Oh... and the sound. There's that.

I'm not getting this whole "delay" thing either.

LOL. I may just throw a Hemi badge to get that reaction. The secret would be mine is a V6.

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

I haven't drove a v6 GC so I can't comment on rather it has a delayed response but when I tested it in a new 14 charger I hated it. Only time I get delay with the HEMI is at speeds where ECO kicks in and I try to gas it a little

Just a small program note... "Dodge" doesn't build trucks anymore....RAM has been a separate brand for a number of years now.

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

Throttle response could be better on the hemi. But I drive it in sport mode all the time, it helps with the delay.

Does anyone know a good tune for a 15 Hemi?

Sport mode is cool and all, but leaving it in sport all the time doesn't bother you ever? I mean sometimes the rpms just sit at like 3k

False. Turning off Eco mode unfortunately does not deactivate MDS.

and sport mode doesn't turn off MDS either. Eco mode and sport mode just create conditions where MDS is less likely to come on but there is actually no quick or easy way to turn it off completely. there are other threads floating around here on it, I used to think sport mode turned it off but negative. after the last trans flash on my 5.7 it got rid of most of that low speed lugging the MDS caused that bugged me sometimes. I don't really even notice the MDS or eco much any more after driving it for 3 years, need a little more power press the gas a little harder lol. I actually really like the 5.7/8spd feel its a good setup.

^^I agree, I like the 5.7/8 speed. It just fires off shifts.

Re: For those who drive a Hemi 5.7

Lag from the Hemi is there but have noticed once or twice from a dead stop. Of course there is a lag. Do you know how heavy the hemi is? While driving never had any issues with lag and am very happy with the hemi and the 8 speed. On the other hand, i think i would have gotten buyers remorse not getting the hemi and the amount of tq the pentestar pushes.
