Re: Ford Explorer forum

I wanted an Explorer at first. I liked the front end with the color matched grill. The interior on the upscale models are decent but I didn't like how it drove. I thought the $53k Sport I drove was seriously lacking sport. I decided on utility and economy of an ecodiesel instead.

But in all honesty, the Explorer to GC comparison isn't fair. One is a 3rd row larger SUV, I think it's more about what you need. I didn't need a 3rd row at all.

Re: Ford Explorer forum

Interesting conversations. I'm with the "to each their own..." crowd.

Wifey's final two choices were Ford Explorer Sport and the JGC. It was close. I'm glad that she ended up picking the JGC, given our lifestyle, but it was close.

We came from a VW Touareg. Was beastly. Had VW not gotten rid of all the things that made the Touareg awesome (off-road capability and air suspension), I may have gotten another.

Before that we had an Audi wagon. Honda Pilot. A Chrysler minivan. Those were just her cars. We shop and get what we like.

Fully agreed.

Plus, I wanted a 4x4 with a low range. The Explorer doesn't have that anymore - which kind of actually makes it a minivan. It certainly has enough room for a soccer team.

I hear it has a whole lot of cup holders, too....at least compared to the Jeep.

Then again, you probably don't want a lot of beverages sitting about when you're...you know...off roading....

Probably the one thing the Explorer has that I really, really wish I did is the foot activated lift gate. At least the gate button on the Jeep is easy to tag with one finger, even with your arms full of groceries. I just really dig the idea of not having to try to juggle bags while messing with the gate.

Funny you mention the front end.
I'm not sure why Ford added the front end of the 2006 Ford Five hundred sedan to the front end of the 2016 Ford Explorer. Smh.

Re: Ford Explorer forum

Can't stand the exterior or interior styling of the explorer. The shape is very boring and uninspired. The interior doesn't do anything for me either, extremely plain.
