I guess I should have mentioned I was joking.

Of course I was joking.

It was only 16, not 17.

Maybe you should stop and drop the body off the side view mirror. Otherwise it takes about 10 miles for them to fall by the wayside. Of course if you are doing 90 mph through a school zone, you should definitely not stop.

Re: Forward 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock visibility

Yeah, not a big fan of the A-pillars. They block the view of certain intersections, so when I'm looking to my left to see a car stopped at the stop sign, I can't see them at all so I have lean forward. Also, I find they greatly reduce my visibility when driving on twisty roads.

Re: Forward 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock visibility

As was mentioned earlier, the 'A' pillars are large due to government roll over standards. I believe they have to support 3 times the vehicle weight. Interestingly, a friend in the auto body business tells me that he has seen a great decrease in roll overs due to stability control. Go figure.

Re: Forward 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock visibility

Yes, it is a problem for me to in '11 WK2. I am 5' 7". I learned to look "around" A-pillar on both sides whenever I make a turn. I never had to do anything like that in any other car.

Re: Forward 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock visibility

There is definetly a visibility issue with our wk2's, but im used to looking over the pillars. Coming from a 2000 durango with the huge mirrors, there was about a foot and a half of complete blindness.
