Yes Brake lights function on ACC with brake application even though there is no peddle feel.
I DO NOT recommend attempting this but I know I have had my FCW come on when I am coming down a hill towards a light and there is a person making a right turn. I have the ability to go around them but usually they turn out of the way. If they are turning slowly and I am coming up on them quickly the FCW freaks out but I also think there is a distance setting on it in 2011.
I have also tested the Mercedes collision system. And I will tell you this.... it is not guaranteed to prevent an accident. It is a safety system to protect the driver not always the vehicle. You can get it to bump the object.
These systems are called mitigation for a reason.
***** look up mitigation in a dictionary, this is about minimizing the damage or lessening the impact NOT stopping your car from hitting something. I spoke to someone who thought this would make it safer to text and drive IT WILL NOT. If you do a full on test of this system it will almost certainly hit the object. The brake application is designed to lessen an impact NOT stop the vehicle. Please please remember this is about occupant safety and not an override for the driver.
I don't know if I can stress how important it is to know this. If there is not info in the manual on this please let us know.
