If your brake lights don't come on, something's wrong.

I have the old FCW and adaptive cruise on my Durango and I have tested both.

Yes Brake lights function on ACC with brake application even though there is no peddle feel.

I DO NOT recommend attempting this but I know I have had my FCW come on when I am coming down a hill towards a light and there is a person making a right turn. I have the ability to go around them but usually they turn out of the way. If they are turning slowly and I am coming up on them quickly the FCW freaks out but I also think there is a distance setting on it in 2011.

I have also tested the Mercedes collision system. And I will tell you this.... it is not guaranteed to prevent an accident. It is a safety system to protect the driver not always the vehicle. You can get it to bump the object.

These systems are called mitigation for a reason.

***** look up mitigation in a dictionary, this is about minimizing the damage or lessening the impact NOT stopping your car from hitting something. I spoke to someone who thought this would make it safer to text and drive IT WILL NOT. If you do a full on test of this system it will almost certainly hit the object. The brake application is designed to lessen an impact NOT stop the vehicle. Please please remember this is about occupant safety and not an override for the driver.

I don't know if I can stress how important it is to know this. If there is not info in the manual on this please let us know.

Why the HECK would there be a Recall or TSB for a problem that only YOU and possibly a Few Others have had?!?

Was never able to trigger it. It came up once (i think) on hwy while going under overpass. Startled me, kind of jumped in my seat. I'm not sure how do you trigger it.

Re: Forward Collision Warning

From my experience with this, "and sorry for the revival but a new issue..." The FCW doesn't have to have the ACC ON to function as I have had it hit the brakes on me just driving through town..... It alerts "Brake Brake Brake!" and then if you don't respond fast enough it hits the brakes...... "BEE BEE BEEP, BEE BEE BEEP" A new issue like somone else has commented on, is when going under overpass the FCW alerts now?? I don't recall it ever doing this before though my "road trips" have been quite limited with my 2014 Overland as the 8400 miles in 1 year would suggest, but Im sure this is something that needs addressed and fixed.... It has not hit the brakes during the overpass fall positives yet, but knowing for a fact it has done so driving through town, I can see this causing a potential problem, ESPECIALLY at Overpasses where hitting the brakes in wintery conditions could result in a slide or skid... This is after cleaning the sensor also.... Anyone have any suggestions or experienced similar issues?

Re: Forward Collision Warning

I have a 2014 Overland with 1400 miles and just had the FCW activate when I wasn't expecting it. The car in front of me was making a right turn and I was by no means very close to his rear end. Maybe 200 feet back or so. He completely makes the right turn and is around the corner and as I approach the intersection it goes off. I have no idea what would have triggered it. Maybe a reflection off something? I'm hoping this doesn't continue to happen, but I'm hoping a TSB comes out if we keep seeing reports of it.

Do you have to enable adaptive cruise control in order for the Forward Collision Warning to work?

FCW works well when ACC is on and active on the highway, but not when you are just driving around normally and have the ACC off.
When test driving my wife's 2014 Summit last month FCW activated when I was on my way back to the dealer. Must admit it startled the crap out of me. Same scenario as others. Driver in front of me was turning right and I was closing at about 25 mph. I never covered the brake and when the driver was almost through the turn I was probably 50 ft back when it engaged.

Not to state the obvious but if it's selected on in the Uconnect setting it will by default be on at each start up. If you select the button on the center stack and the light comes on you've disabled the system.

Re: Forward Collision Warning

Did you guys tried "far" and "near" setting for FCW. I have it set to "near" and have been happy with it.
