Found Something Quality Control Missed WK2

While cleaning my Overland today for the first time I lifted my hood and something was not quite right.

Under the hood attached to the hood are 2 rubber weather inserts on the left and right right above both headlights when the hood is closed attached to the hood with plastic clips, well im missing the passenger side one

Ill swing by the dealer and inform them monday to order me it.

Have you checked yours?

Re: Found Something Quality Control Missed WK2

This has already been discussed on here. It is normal and is only on the drivers side to protect dirt and water from entering the air intake.

I don't think there is one on the passenger side if that's what I'm thinking of. That has to do with the air intake on the driver's side.

Re: Found Something Quality Control Missed WK2

The rubber strip is only on the intake side to prevent a straight on splash of water/debris from going into the intake. It's a deflector strip. It looks funny but that is indeed the way it's supposed to be.

Here's the link to the other thread where this came up.

Marlon, who works at Jefferson North, confirmed that only one side has this weatherstripping.

Re: Found Something Quality Control Missed WK2

Would we still want that extra trim seal on the driver side even with an aftermarket CAI?

I understand you don't want to drown the intake with water or solids, but at some point, don't you want to let in colder, fresh air rather than seal it out?
