Found another article about the air bag recall. It seems that FCA admits that it is installing the flawed designed inflator but only for the passenger side, and it refused to disclose on what model car.

Yup. That's what it says. Kinda scary, I suppose. So, to be extra careful, until they let us know which cars are included, we should not allow anyone to use the passenger seat before the recall in Dec. 2018.

Wow, so I already have two recall letters sitting here on my desk, so there is a chance of a third one for airbags? Niiiiceeee!

Re: Freeze on new 2015 sales

seems like a quick way to address the airbags would be to disable them - esp. the passenger side. How many years did people drive without any airbags ... not ideal of course, but the way cars are built/crumple zones etc it seems better than getting killed by shrapnel instead of just getting a bruise or broken arm/collar bone etc

i also wonder if they couldn't just put an additional layer of kevlar over the existing airbag for shrapnel? sort of a 'body armor' vest on top of the bag to catch any shrapnel?

true, i was thinking since FCA isn't a federal agency they could use logic - but then NHTSA is a federal agency so there goes the logic right into the toilet

Not officially as used (ie CPO) are not restricted on sales by feds, but will b when bill passes..... however, dealers r free to be cautious and hold them back but I don't see a dealer doing that if not illegal so it's probably just tight used inventory.

Not really...CPO is a technical waste on a vehicle still under original bump-to-bump warranty...they get traded in to many a non-CDJR dealer so CPO not an option on those...

Autotrader dot com has 7,502 "Used" '14-'16 JGC's listed nationwide...same search for "CPO" yields 12...
