Re: Front License Plate Bracket

I live in CA where front plate is required. Asked dealer again and they said none of the 11 Grand Cherokees come with a bracket. You screw your own fram in the bumper with the provided screws. Was curious since my 06 Overland came with a front mounting plate attached.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

I asked my dealer about the front license plate bracket in Virginia. They stated none of the JGCs come with it.

I couldn't find one on Mopar. I sent Chrysler an email about it. They called me back a day or two later. After some research, they stated one has not been designed/built for the 2011 JGC. They couldn't find one I could order.

I guess I'll play around with different ones I can find to see if one looks ok and fits flush with the bumper. I want to avoid attaching/detaching the screws to the bumper over the years.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

Nothing came with my 2011, I am going to drill into the bumper tonight although it pains me to do it.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

I didn't want to drill into the bumper on my Charger SRT-8, so I made an 'L' shaped aluminum bracket that attaches to the underside of the bumper. I'm going to do the same on the WK2.

That is the best idea yet. I'll have to think about how I can do a similar thing. Now to contact the dealer and not have them drill the holes.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

My 06 had the Bracket when I purchased it but it looked like crap so I took it off and installed the fron plat directly on the bumper...Looks way sleeker in my opinion.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

The issue of vehicles with no front license plate bracket and the responses from Chrysler posted above seem weird to me. My Overland order lists the Front License Plate Bracket as Sales Code MDA in the standard equipment list the dealer printed for me on Oct. 13. Surely the bracket does not get deleted from the order at some point?
How can the Chrysler sales and parts folks not see a part that has a Sales Code?

^^^^^^^PM that to Milous.......ask he look into it.

those bumper screws will work once or twice then the holes start to get big.

you really want to mount a bracket, like the WK, then put your plate on it. you can remove/replce the plate a dozen times without ever touching th bumper screws.

I agree. I tend to take off the license plate every few years for new stickers and to clean it off.

I've hit a dead end with my dealer and Chrysler who say it doesn't exist.

That is why I mounted the Screw retainers into the bumper just liek what would be on a mount so the screws can be removed as many times as possible.
