Front License Plate Bracket

When I picked up my overland from the dealer I asked about a bracket for my front plate. I was advised that there are screws in the glove compartment and I should just screw the plate into the front bumper at the hole marks. Is this accuate, we just screw into the bumper? My 06 overland had a front bracket that you screwed the plate on.
Thanks

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

Not sure but, yeah, I'd expect there would be a front bracket that came with it, too. If not, just another sign of cheapened times.

Here in PA, we don't have front license plates. Yet every new car I've ever bought has either had a front bracket already installed (either empty, or with some dealer logo plate) that I have to remove, or else the bracket is just tossed in the trunk or cargo area for me to install on my own if I ever move to a different state.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

It would be true, but it also sounds like a lazy sales guy as he should have installed the bracket if your state requires a front plate.

FWIW - I didn't get a bracket (or even screws) with mine.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

No Bracket for mine, I realized this yesterday when I walked outside. Still not sure if I like the look of it.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

No Jeep provided bracket that I know of but yes the front bumber simpley has two dimples in the plastic front facia that you need to drill out use the provided screws. My dealer did it and provided a plastic frame for the plate, with their name on it of course.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

No plate in a state requiring one will make for a good motor vehicle stop. Then they'll listen to that new exhaust and check out the extra tinted windows. Why open pandora's box?

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

If your state requires a front plate usually vehicles are required to be sold with a front bracket as it is required equipment just like a spot on the rear to mount the plate or any other safety equipment. Personally I roll without. But they are not strict around here.

Re: Front License Plate Bracket

A dealer bulletin issued in January 2007 stated the following:

Vehicles that are shipped to states that do not require a front license plate bracket will no longer include the MDA sales code and will not have the bracket added to the vehicle at the plant.

The installation of a front license plate bracket on a vehicle not equipped with the MDA sales code is not the responsibility of DaimlerChrysler.

So, if your build sheet shows the MDA sales code then you should have received the bracket, if not, then get your dealer to order you one. The MSRP is around $30 for the bracket.
