Front Parking Sensors

Do we non-Summitt owners have any alternatives for Front Parking Sensors. Living in NYC and constantly having to parallel park, this feature would be very helpful.

Re: Front Parking Sensors

Have things changed in NYC in the last ten years. It used to be the front parking sensor was the feel of your bumper touching the bumper of the car in front. If your vehicle was heavy enough, you could push the car in front of you if need be. This would cause either little, or acceptable damage.

If you can't do that any more I'm glad I'm outta there.

Re: Front Parking Sensors

Sorry if you need front parking sensors, rear parking sensors or need to to do it by feel to parallel park you are obviously to incompetent to have a DL and to be on the road driving.

Folks for decades parallel parked w/o the aid of electronics or by touch.

If a moron like me can do it what is your excuse?

Yikes! C'mon man. I think I can speak for the original poster by saying that we don't "need" a lot of the items that are on our Jeeps, but they're nice to have. I rarely have the need to parallel park and for the occasional time I've needed to, I'm sure I would've been fine without the backup camera & front sensors.....but they're nice to have for reassurance or at very least, "the gadget factor"...

Re: Front Parking Sensors

I looked into doing it but then I realized that with the new Lockpick and a front camera, I achieve more and this mod has been relegated to a 3rd tier mod (behind retrofitting ACC with STOP and some minor power mods). I am waiting for the snow to melt and then I will install a front view camera and the Lockpick.

My knowledge is limited when it comes to the Lockpick, but one thing to potentially consider with the front parking sensors is the dash display AND audible indicator when you're getting close to an object. The dash displays the distance from 3 to 1 bars.
