Front parking sensors on Overland?

I noticed that the Summit comes standard with this feature but the Overland only comes with the rear parking sensors. Does anybody know if they can be retro fitted on the Overland? I had this feature on my previous BMW X5 and the front of the Jeep is even hard to see how far/close you are to objects. Anybody else finding this to be an annoyance?

Re: Front parking sensors on Overland?

It can be an annoyance. And if you want to PAY, you get anything done. However I doubt that this modification would be worth it. Just buy a Summit.

Re: Front parking sensors on Overland?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this feature come with the Advanced Tech package? So, while it's not standard, it is available.

Nope, only avail on Summit.

I was willing to pay "anything" to get Advanced Tech Group on My limited.
They would not do it for any price. I ended up "Paying" for an Overland with Adv Tech Group.

Anything that involves "Computers" is very difficult to Add because the diagnostic systems that update firmware etc. go based on things like the VIN. So unless it's made to look like a Summit it won't expect it.

Sometimes things can be hacked. But it's getting very hard to do because things are so interdependent.

I agree. You want it. Get a Summit. There might be something after market.

Re: Front parking sensors on Overland?

I agree as well though in a different way. Get yourself one of the two infotainment hacks (either the Swedish Software Sensation or the CoastalTech Hardware Lockpicks) and install a front camera . Read about it in the appropriate forum on this site. I've looked into sensors for the front and yest definitely possible but too expensive. And at the end of the day...they are sensors, not a camera that can actually...you know...let you see both how far you are from an object and what exactly you are driving into.

It's difficult because Jeep made it difficult.

BMW systems are all computer controlled but you can program those things with all kinds of options that don't come from the factory. The dealers can do it and any average joe can get the tech and know-how to do it. Lots of guys will program features for others for like $100 a session.

If Jeep wanted to sell more aftermarket stuff, they would have made it easier to just add on features after the fact. You have plenty of people like the OP begging to give Jeep their money, and Jeep says Nope, no thanks.

Re: Front parking sensors on Overland?

I have my dealer getting it together so they can be added. When I get it done I will let you know what the final cost was.

Re: Front parking sensors on Overland?

My 2014 Summit is the first vehicle I have had with front sensors and I gotta say, they really come in handy....much more so than the rear sensors. I love how it displays on the instrument panel as well.
To get them factory installed in the U.S. you need to buy SRT, Summit, or High Altitude Overland.

Great feature to have hopefully someone can figure out how to get them added to an Overland.

I agree with you on that, the front sensors are something I thought I would never use much but I ended up loving them and the back sensors. I can park the GC in far tighter harder spaces than I could my last sedan. They are very useful.
