Front Seat Rotation

The leather on the driver side is wearing a little more than I would like. I have 36k on the vehicle so I am out of the warranty period. The idea I came up with was to move the passenger side seat to the driver side and the driver side to the passenger. First, has anyone done this? Second, how difficult is it to remove the front seats and how heavy are the seats? Third, any thoughts about whether or not this is reasonable? Thanks in advance

Re: Front Seat Rotation

I wonder if it would be better, or possible, to just swap the covers.

Re: Front Seat Rotation

The seats are not interchangeable.

What makes you say they are not interchangeable?

They are different seats...and don't forget the air bags.

Re: Front Seat Rotation

Probably would fit in theory, but wont work just for the fact because the switches for the power seats would not be accessible anymore.

I did notice the passenger seat did move much closer to the dash compared to the driver. The thing I am struggling with is why would the seats be different in the day of mass production. Are there different airbags on the seats? I assume you mean the dash and sheering wheel bag. I don't mean to be confrontational.

Re: Front Seat Rotation

There are airbags are physically mounted in the outside (toward the doors) of each seat. The driver's seat and passenger's seat are mirror images in that respect.

Re: Front Seat Rotation

Yup. They put some in the seats so that there can be a complete "curtain", no matter where the seat is adjusted to, for side-impact situations. This is standard across all trim levels, too.
