The non chrome hooks have separate part numbers as well (68065280AE Right and 68065281AE Left - $74.25 each MSRP). These are the hooks only and do not include the mounting hardware/brackets (same for the chrome hooks).

Mopar combines them as a package into a single part number for their accessories sales (Black - 82212095 - $165 MSRP). The Mopar package includes mounting brackets and hardware.

Re: Front tow hooks

I ordered my Overland Summit on 1/31/11 and it looks like it will have the front chrome tow hooks factory installed.

My order when into "D" status on 11/7/11. The production code for the front chrome hooks is XHQP, you would have to have this production code on your build sheet to get the chrome hooks!

You can call Jeep at 1 877 426-5337 to get updates on your factory order and have them read the build sheet for your particular order if you are in at least D status and have a VIN assigned.

Oh ok great thanks for the information...I wasn't aware of that. I'll be interested to see the price for the Chrome Tow Hook package from MOPAR when it comes out. If it's anywhere near $400 I'll just but the black set and chrome them myself.

Re: Front tow hooks

I'll be putting on a black set on my Overland this weekend. The install looks pretty simple. I think the most difficult thing will be getting the lower front fascia to come off.

I'd be close both ways. Never pay retail you can get 35% off all the time at trademotion.

Re: Front tow hooks

I just installed mine on my Overland and I have bloodied hands to prove it.

By far the hardest part is getting the lower front fascia off. It is not easy. It probably took me an hour just to do that. Despite knowing to look for the tabs, I didn't really know what to do with them. Push them up or pull them down - it seemed both had to be done at the same time. Eventually some brute force allowed me to get them all out.

The rest of it is not difficult but kind of a pain in the ass. I forgot one part on each side as I was installing them and had to undo and then redo some work which added about 40 minutes. The instructions were clear, I just wasn't careful.

The best tip I can give is to thread the nuts and bolts several times before installing them to make them go on easier. The nuts go in a really tight spot and it is difficult to get any type of leverage to get the bolts to bite. Threading them before makes it that much easier.

The instructions were a little off in terms of the hardware. I did not have any 18 mm bolts and washers. They were 16 mm instead.

It took me a bit under 3.5 hours but I could have shaved quite a bit of time off if I was not careless and if I knew a better way to get the fascia off.

I will be getting the 2012 Overland Summit this week. Im really not a big fan of any chrome so piece by piece I will be replacing it with body color or black. Let me know if your interested, I might be up for a trade. (my chrome ones for your black ones)

This actually brings me to another question. Anybody know the best place to get grills, mirrors, body trim, 18" rims (offroad package) etc. to replace my chrome?

I'd be interested in trading black ones for your chrome ones. I can't PM you because you don't have 10 posts, so let me know where you live and we can see if we can swap. When are you getting your Summit in? Also, if you're looking for body colored, I might be interested in swapping my black stock Overland grill for your chrome one. Let me know.
