Re: Full Tank at Purchase

New, and full tank, twice with two JGCs -- 2014 and 2016. The tank wasn't actually full but they gave me a chit to fill the tank for free.

Full Tank at Purchase

mine had about an 1/8 tank in it when i went to pick it up, wasn't having that! So needless to say my salesman wound up driving with me to the gas station to fill it up before i drove home. He did mention on the way back that a 1/4 tank or less is the norm when they sell new or used.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

Full tank every time but I don't care as long as it's not below factory fill and I get a good deal on the vehicle to begin with.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

I have bought 2 vehicles this year. 1 was a big diesel and this new trailhawk. Neither got a full tank and I complained on both. My dealer on the jeep tried to make me feel like the $10 they put in the tank was a favor. " you saved a lot of money buying from us" Bullshit! YOU TOOK $40K PLUS off me and then a doc fee of $509. You owe me 20 more gallons of fuel.

But I just took it and chalked it up to...I could have bought from somewhere I knew would not have given me reason to be disgusted. Dealer has a shady rep.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

I bought mine secondhand. I still asked the salesman if it comes with a full tank, and he was surprised. I just said for that kind of money the least they can do is give me a full tank. I got it with a full tank on pick up.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

Yea my 16 75th was the first time the jeep did not have full tank of gas. All other Jeep's and cars had full tank. Didn't catch it til I was almost home from the dealer.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

The first time I got a full tank was 1987. I jokingly told the salesman the gauge must be broken. Since then, 10 new cars later, only my 2014 JGC came with less than a full tank.

My '16 diesel came with full fuel and full DEF. The car I traded in was on E when I drove it into the lot...

Hah, I hadn't even thought about that, yeah, all I have traded in were close to E as well...

I guess it isn't fair to always EXPECT it full, was just so used to it I had not realized it wasn't followed 100%.

Based on some of the above comments, I guess I have always chosen good dealers.

Actually I have been VERY happy with all but one of my chosen dealers and even that ONE was 90% good to me (slipping in some BS extra coverage when I wasn't looking).

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

Glad to see it looks like MOST have had a decent / full fill upon purchase. Still suprised its not a 100% thing but rather it seems to vary by dealership or even salesman in some cases.

I wonder if any higher dollar / luxury brands have a set policy?

Do Mercs, Jag, Land Rover or BMW all come full? I hear more of those dealers have loaner cars so thinking the full tank may be another perk...

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

If you look on a build sheet, there is a code for a certain amount of fuel that is provided by the manufacturer. Many dealers supplement this by filling to full because they feel that's a valuable benefit to their customers. There are some dealers, however...
