Re: Full Tank at Purchase

Only 23 so I don't have much car buying experience, but when I am shopping around at a dealer I make sure that a full tank is included in whatever I purchase.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

My cheap @$$ dealer (Ganley in Bedford) only had mine filled about halfway. Salesman said that's how they all are now. They also tried to get me on some other crap too, but the key is to do your research before you go in so that you can call them out on it.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

MY 11 = full tank. MY15 = $40 of fuel. Same dealer. Odd, but I'm okay with it.
When I was working, I got a new fleet car about every 2 years (Chevrolet or Ford). 90% of these were delivered with the fuel needle hovering just above the E.

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

I've purchased 9 brand new cars since about 1992, 1 Mitsubishi, 1 Nissan, 2 Dodges, and 5 Jeeps. All had full tanks at delivery. I've had some used cars over the years too, don't really recall those but if I remember correctly they had whatever fuel was in them when I looked at them/test drove them. Funny thing is probably more then half of the vehicles I've traded in were close to E or had the low fuel light on at time of trade. haha

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

I'm surprised at what I've been reading here. My Grand Cherokee is the 15th new car that I've purchased and every last one of them has been delivered to me with a full tank of gas. I thought that was just standard practice at every dealership. I can't believe there are dealerships that don't fill up the damn tank. Maybe that's the case when people beat them up on the price so bad that their profit level is too low? I dunno.....lol

I'm quite surprised too although at least the poll seems to show most do get a full tank.

I like to think I got a pretty good deal on each of mine, some better than others though of course. All have been below book value (used) or at or below invoice (new).

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

Both of my new Jeeps came with a full tank and those were 2 different dealers in NC, When I bought my pickups up in MA many years ago, that dealer didn't have fuel on site but gave me a voucher to go to the station down the road and fill them. In fact my wife's first Liberty was delivered full, the second one was used from Carmax in Orlando, they tried to deliver it empty until I told them that they could keep their Jeep if the tank wasn't full. They begrudgingly filled it.

Full Tank at Purchase

My GC came with just enough to get me to the nearest gas station.

My Renegade came with full tank and I've got better deal on the car itself.

Although cost to fill up GC is more then 2x vs Renegade (low 50 vs low 20)

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

I've had around 32 new cars since 2009 and I've never not received a full tank. Some have made it sound like a big deal, others never say anything.

Wow, not even enough to make it to a gas station. Now that I would complain about!!!

Re: Full Tank at Purchase

I used to sell cars and there is absolutely no reason a dealership should send a brand new vehicle out without a full tank. The dealer I worked at always filled new and made sure used had a half tank.
