Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

My Jeep was driven from the sister dealership that was in Tampa to me at the dealership in new port Richey and they filled it up when they got to me. My trade in on the other hand had the gas light on when I gave it to them

I got a full tank, and never asked for it. Dealer said he just figures that cost into his sale price because everyone expects it anyway. My trade-in had less than 1/4 tank.

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

Well my trade in had the gas light on and I had to drive to the bank and back. I felt guilty so I put $10 bucks in. Quickly learned my lesson though with the Jeep at only 1/4. Hehe.

Objectively, it is what, about $100 bucks for the dealer to fill the tank, presuming they don't have a deal with any local gas stations.

And, since dealers that are non-profit organizations tend not to be there when you need repairs, they aren't really paying that $100 bucks... you are sooner or later.

But, objectiveness aside, it is simply good customer relations to provide a new vehicle with a full tank or a gas card. Not doing so can make you wonder what other corners they might cut.

Mine came with about half a tank because they had to drive about 150 miles round trip to pick up from another dealer's stock. Salesman offered a full tank, we settled for a gas card and a couple cans of the cleaner their prep guys use, a can of mopar lithium spray, and later a discount on mud flap install.

All just good customer relations. Some dealers get the concept...

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

This is probably irrelevant but my 2009 GC Overland states on the original Option Report :

Optional Equipment

YG1a - 7.5 Additional Gallons of gas
39LA - Includes Full Tank of Fuel

Maybe things have changed in the last 5 years... but you could look at the report and find out what it called for...

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

Took delivery of my 2014 Overland. Tank was 1/4 away from being full. I realized it as I drove away.. I felt like going back and telling them to fill it up all the way but it was already 10pm.

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

No but I said something and he took it and gassed it up. When I spend 30k+ on a vehicle they can spend $75 and fill her up. To me it goes hand in hand with the car wash when you buy and they deliver.

It was meant to alleviate costs, which I could understand would cost millions per year. However, this sounded silly to me so my question to you is:

Did you have to put gas in your vehicle after taking delivery?
No, I did not.

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

My dealer filled mine up only after I told him my trade in had a full tank which it did.

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

My dealership would not full my tank either when I took deliver. I ask them and was told that they stopped back several years ago. My 2013 Jeep was full when I traded it in so I lost about $70.00 in gas. The low fuel light was on in my new 2014 and I wonder if it would even make it to the gas station without running out of gas.
