I've been extremely lucky, in that my dealer has behaved in only a positive way with me for decades now. The day I picked up my new JGC my salesman spent the better part of an hour in the vehicle with me. We drove to a filling station and he filled it up using a dealer credit card. He also went over just about every system in my Jeep to make sure I understood it. We paired my phone, and synced my phonebook. He walked me through the Uconnect registration process and set up my account. He also gave me a coupon book for three years of free oil changes. The prep of my vehicle was done according to a checklist. I know where I'll be making my next vehicle purchase.
And THAT is why they did it.

Some dealers seem to have enough folks lining up to pay money for crappy attitude. Others try harder to become a dealer for other folks you know, or even you next vehicle.

I went to 4 dealerships when shopping for my Jeep. I told each one that I will be shopping at all 4 before making a final decision. Only 1 out of the 4 gave me the best customer service, which is why I bought from him. The others felt like they didn't *need* to compete and just gave me the basic info and pricing without going out of the way.

Now, putting gas in the tank "should" be a dealership customer appreciation thing to do and not leave it up to the sales guy to make the call. My sales guy apologized for the 1/4 tank but did let me know why dealerships (more so sales people) put the keys in your hand without filling it up. I'll go back to my guy after this experience.

Well another thing I noticed because my note 3 keeps randomly dropping Bluetooth. The uconnect is an old version.
Trying to download the update from my drive since the site won't work with this dang downloader

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

Picking up our '15 Overland from River Oaks Jeep (Texas group buy) tomorrow and you better believe they'll fill that tank. Based on my interaction with them up to this point, I don't see it being an issue...I'll be pushing for some free oil changes too!

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

Had a great experience with our dealer when purchasing our 14 Overland. I asked if they would fill the tank and they stated that of course they would. We left with a full tank of gas as promised. To me this is just a customer service thing.

Yes, that's been my experience with my dealer as well from sales through service. I don't ask for or give any impression to them that I expect this, they just do it. And that's why I continue doing business with them.

Out of all the new vehicles I purchased there was only one time I didn't receive a full tank of gas. That was when I purchased an 82 truck from our area Ford dealer. In fact, I didn't even make it to the gas station I normally used before the tank ran dry. I was pissed... it was a -15 F January day and no fun hoofin' it to find a gas can full of gas to get me to the pumps. Needless to say, I never purchased another vehicle from them since.

Re: Full Tank upon Delivery?

My last 3 vehicles have been Jeeps from the same dealer, all with full tanks upon delivery. The last two were from the same salesman. He has been excellent, not only during the sale but afterwards as well. The last two vehicles he did not have on the lot but he's brought them in. Walked me through every aspect of the features of the vehicle, every setting in UConnect, paired the phone and went for a drive. All told an hour+ making sure I was completely comfortable with operating the vehicle and satisfied before driving off the lot. Other than the anticipated hassle of negotiating trade in and purchase price, it was a completely painless experience. Still, that wasn't too bad and much better than it used to be. At least from my perspective, the dealer I go to values building a relationship with their customers. Their service department is outstanding as well.

I can only imagine how much the dealership spends on fuel each year between new vehicle delivery test drives. When you are buying a vehicle I feel it speaks volumes about what you may expect from the dealership if or when you ever need them. If I have to ask for it, I'll probably be looking at another dealership.
