So I took delivery of my 14' Altitude. The gas was at 1/4 tank. I was not trying to be an azz but I asked my guy what the heck. He took it and gassed it up for me. However, upon returning he indicated that their dealership was not going to see any return on gas for vehicles due to a Chrysler decision to cancel reimbursement back in 09. It was meant to alleviate costs, which I could understand would cost millions per year. However, this sounded silly to me :slapfight: so my question to you is:
Did you have to put gas in your vehicle after taking delivery?
Mine was full. I actually got a second tank free when I returned to grab some paperwork I left at the dealership and the spare fob about a week later. Nice touch.
I would say that this is nothing new on the 1/4 tank of gas. Many dealers only give about that much, I'd say feel lucky they did fill it. My dealer gave me about 1/2.
Dealer gave me a full tank. I think it depends on who you deal with at the dealer and the dealer policy. The previous vehicle we bought from this dealer, the sales manager was an ass and after closing the deal, he told them to only fill it to 1/4 tank. The salesman was nice enough to ignore his command and nearly filled the tank for us.
It varies dealer to dealer. It is a common practice to deliver a brand new car with a full tank of gas, but it's not really "required". Some dealers are tight azzes about it. To me, if they give you a hard time about one tank of fuel on their several thousand dollar profit, they're probably gonna try to screw you every other chance they get if you come in for service.
FWIW, I read somewhere that each Jeep gets 7 gallons of fuel on the assembly line.
EXACTLY --- $995 destination fee and not a full tank of gas?
On my build sheet it says "YG1 7.5 Additional Gallons of Gas" with MSRP pricing of $0 and invoice pricing of $26.
My dealer for my ordered 2011 Overland Summit in South Florida.....cough cough .....Arrigo Sawgrass......did not fill the tank (just the 1/4 tank from the factory). I used Treadlighty for affiliate pricing which is 1% below invoice and they had a high dealer fee which upon insistence they removed (it is not allowed with the affiliate pricing yet they insisted on charging it until I strongly pressed the issue).
Koons on the other hand gave me a FULL tank of gas for my 2014 Summit and on net with dealer fee they were around 6% below invoice.
Mine was delivered with less than 1/4 tank. Dealer told me he could bring it down the street and fill it up for me, or give me a $75 gas card. I took the gas card...didn't want to wait 20 more minutes or let someone else drive it before I did!
When I bought my Charger in December of 2012 the dealer refused to fill it for me. They still gave me the best deal out of all the dealers in the area. It sucks that they cheap out like that now.

All the cars I've purchased NEW have always come with a full tank of gas. When I picked up my CRD last Thursday, I actually drove the car to the gas station with the sales manager, chatting it up, and he put the gas in himself.
Seems like good business to do that for customers, regardless of what's "required."

I sure hope he didn't put gas in that EcoDiesel! LOL

I honestly don't remember at this point if I had a full tank or not. I suspect so, but cannot confirm. If I did, it was due to the dealer's kindness after the less than satisfying trade-in I got.
Out of 22 vehicles I have ever bought, never once had less than a full tank of gas. Huntington Beach Jeep actually was the cheapest I've ever seen and I didn't even have to ask about the full tank, it was already done. Kudos

Besides getting a good deal based on all the research first done here at JeepGarage, I need to work more on my negotiation skills. Free oil changes for life! I got a slip for 4 free car washes, but that came with the welcome packet. haha.
2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel. Before I took delivery, the salesman took the keys and said he would fill the tank with fuel. As I was driving away, I noticed it was barely 3/4 full. I guess the salesman didn't say he would fill it to the top.
Sadly, this is the most expensive car I've purchased and it didn't come with a full tank.
When I picked mine up my salesman went for a ride with me to make sure I was familiar with all the systems. First stop was a gas station and a fill up at his expense. He then walked me through phone pairing, and all the other Uconnect stuff. We spent about a half hour with questions and answers. Mine was a pretty early build and delivery, so I got to answer a few questions from him too. I learned a lot on this forum before my delivery. All in all, it was a really great purchase experience. My dealer, and his sales and service staff are top notch. Also got 3 years of free oil changes.
a $90 charge was on my invoice for a full tank of gas. i questioned it but then said whatever, it would cost me about the same if not more since it's $1.389/liter here and the tank is 93 liters.
