LOL... I think I'd rather carry the fuses as opposed to having some 20-something tow jockey damage the vehicle because he's not familiar with how to get the vehicle out of park or how to prep it for towing, which is unique to say the least.

You're missing my point. Your Jeep shouldn't be blowing fuses in the first place! If the electrical system was operating properly...it wouldn't blow fuses...and on a brand new Jeep it should be operating properly. THATS my point.

I think everybody knows what your point is.

The other point being made is, better safe than sorry.

The two points are not mutually exclusive.

Re: Fuses necessary to get home?

I always like to carry a spare set of fuses ...just in case...they are cheap so modest investment for peace of mind (though I agree in a modern vehicle they shouldn't blow, and if they do it may be that the replacement fuse blows due an underlying fault). But for the 2014 GC looks like in addition to the micro fuses (readily available in the UK luckily) there are quite a few Mcase and Jcase ones (mentioned in another thread) which I cannot source in the UK and will need to buy in the US (manufactured by Littelfuse). Interestingly, my UK Jeep dealer doesn't have any.

I understood your point. Along the same lines, one could say the same for fuses and circuit breakers in the home. If that happens in your home I would assume you'd investigate why it happened but at the same time be grateful that the fuse or breaker was there, did its intended job and that your home didn't burn down. Right?

Re: Fuses necessary to get home?

I never said it didn't make sense to carry spare fuses, I just said its a shame owners of this vehicle feel they need to. It never would have occurred to me to carry spare fuses on any other vehicle I've owned, nor have I seen any discussion even mention of blown fuses on Toyota/Lexus forums I post on...

Then you aren't looking in the right places.

The first link is a 1986 4Runner. Thats 28 years old. Second one is a 2004 4Runner, thats 10 years old....and the poster is trying to replace/modify the audio system. Third is a Toyota Previa, which hash't been sold here since the mid 90s. Next is an MR2. Same. Next...1999 4Runner...thats 15 years old.

The general consensus is...these are old Toyotas. Not 2014 Toyotas blowing fuses. If we were talking about 10-30 year old Jeeps I wouldn't have the same reaction

Re: Fuses necessary to get home?

I don't understand why people are responding to SW03ES in the way that they are. The 2014 JGC is known to have electrical problems. These problems are well known, posted all over these forums, and are the reason consumer reports took the reliability rating from 3 to 5. So OK, people like their JGCs. But no reason to jump on some guy who points out that there have been problems, and that there may continue to be problems.

I for one am waiting for 2015.

Its because they're fanboys, and we've had this discussion in other threads before. While I love my Jeep, I am not a fanboy and I'm not willing to be quiet and accept poor quality and reliability and "carry fuses" as they are...that bothers them. If some of these people's Jeeps caught fire and killed their dog they'd say "Well, every car catches fire sometimes" lol.

They want to believe that every car has these same issues, and they're just par for the course. I know its not true, you know its not true...and really they know its not true either which is where the hostility comes from. Doesn't bother me

After 34 posts in this thread, I think it's very obvious who's bothered the most by it.
