Ditto, especially with things going nuts in the Middle East. It's not only a question of better mileage in the here and now, but also for resale. I remember what V8's were worth during the gas crisis in 1980 -- practically nothing -- while junky econoboxes were being sold well above sticker with useless "required options" like Rusty Jones.

I believe fitment will be the same, not sure about the wiring/bus system integration.

Third row seat! That is all I want! If it had it, I'd buy it yesterday!

Re: Future WK2 Improvements: What would you like to see?

direct injection and a low pressure turbo for the pentastar (I don't want any turbo lag that would be terrible offroad)

LED tails, HID or LED fogs.

Corner illuminating headlamps.

Better media center with a bigger screen.

dog friendly package like the one on the now deceased Honda Element.

HUD

turbo diesel please.

Obviously a transmission with more ratios in the box.

An offroad package that includes quadralift...like 33" tires and all that but the park ride height would end up around the offroad 1 setting of standard models.

Different trim options that can be specified with any interior color.

Front ELSD.

Less or no chrome.

Better factory rack options.

Seat massage.

Night vision with pedestrian detection.

Re: Future WK2 Improvements: What would you like to see?

1) Horizontal moving headlights (like my 2006 Lexus IS 350) which are great for mountain road driving (which is where we take our Jeeps) since the lights follow the road instead of beaming straight ahead.
2) All-Terrain tires with the Off-Road Group (as advertised) instead of All-Season tires.
3) Electronics working better on delivery (430N Travel Link missing, iPhone USB and streaming too unreliable)
4) Mopar accessories in the catalog available to order.
5) Better protection for the backup camera and sensors. My camera lens gets water on it occasionally, and the backup sensor sometimes have problems with the water droplets. I have never had camera fogging/blockage on my other vehicle.

* I am VERY happy with the Hemi V-8 and the multi-speed transmission. I considered waiting for the ZF 8-speed (if that ever happens) but it would have been a mistake.

Or 2011 Durango which is using the same platform. The interior even looks very much the same.

Re: Future WK2 Improvements: What would you like to see?

All good suggested improvements by all who posted especially the V6 turbo. I would like to see the nav system upgraded for sure:

-bigger screen
-brighter, sharper, responsive screen like a smartphone or tablet (not that hard)
-more on-screen capability/notifications

Like how ford partnered with microsoft...i think the car manufacturer who partners with google to create a media unit would make big time sense (android compatibility with applications??!!). I think with smartphones becoming so powerful and acting as mini mobile routers, media centers in cars could become real cool and useful.

Re: Future WK2 Improvements: What would you like to see?

Diesel
Front electronic limited slip
My iPhone 4 and iPods
6 or 7 speed transmission
Real tires with the off-road package. (That caused me to waste a $Grand)

That's all. I won't buy another Jeep for years to come. I do love this one so much. That being said, if they release a diesel next year then I'll trade mine in instantly.
