Question Future WK2 Improvements: What would you like to see?

Powertrain choices?
Interior Refreshes?
Exterior color choices?
4x4 Upgrades?

Personally, I'd like to see some serious improvements to the powertrain before anything else. Since the 8-speed ZF is a foregone conclusion, I'll toss out some engines I'd like to see in future WK2s:

1) Improved 3.6L Pentastar engine. DI and twin-turbos are rumored to be future additions. DI should get about 10-15% increases in power numbers and fuel efficiency. Twin-turbos could get hp/tq numbers to about 375/425. Throw in the 8-speed ZF tranny and fuel efficiency numbers could approach 17-18 city/25-26 hwy. Hopefully we'll see this by MY14.

2) Diesel engine option like the 3.0L going in European exports. I'll hold my breath on this one. Twin-turbo V6 gasser much more likely here in the US, IMO.

3) A rumored smaller displacement V8 based on the Pentastar. Who knows if this will ever make it to the WK2 or any Chrysler product. With gas prices and future CAFE regulations, good ole' fashion V8s could be on its way out with the exception to full-size pickups and the high-performance vehicle market. TT V6s will be the fix for this.

Things I'd like to see added or changed to the interior:

1) Future version of the 830n. Although, I don't know how it'll fit without a redesign of the center stack.

2) Dual head-rest based rear DVD system. Get to keep the pano sunroof while also being able to use your rear-view mirror.

3) Darker frost seats like earlier build Overlands. Had the chance to see one back in August. They looked really nice. Almost jumped on it and should have.

Exterior:

1) Dual exhaust for V6s.
2) More color choices: lighter blue is needed for sure
3) Optional 22" rims or some kind of "special edition" package that includes it.

4x4:

1) Front ELSD
2) ?

Good thread! Agree with the above. With a few things below:

Power-folding folding side mirrors
Frontend distance control senors
Headlight washers (can't tell I like the export model)
LED tail lights (with the option of LED rear fogs)
"Sportier" version or package below the SRT8 with upgraded seats, rims/tires, exhaust
Better "off-road" packages, factory lift, real off road equipped rims/tires
Various different rim options across the trim levels
If we are really getting picky, and able to compete with higher end SUVs:
Heads-Up display
Headlights that "bend" when turning
Service amenities such as a loaner car

Hmm... that is all I can think of now.

Less chrome. Front Limited Slip. Option for BFG ATs.

Loaner car is all based on the dealer isn't it? I know I get the option of a loaner when it was getting fixed...

Re: Future WK2 Improvements: What would you like to see?

An option NOT to have any sunroof. It's really dumb to bundle a sunroof with a DVD package.

Have Quadra-Lift automatically put the vehicle in Park for you so you don't have to remember to do it.

A more powerful V8 that's not an SRT. If I want to race then I'll go for low drag and less weight, thank you.

Shed at least 1/2 Ton of weight.

Michelin LTX M/S2 standard for 4x4 models and some decent A/T tires for any "Off-Road" package.

Re: Future WK2 Improvements: What would you like to see?

I'd add:
1) power folding rear seats like the Infinit EX35.
2) the ability to have power running boards like on Escalade/Navigator
3) More amber interior lighting. Not the cheap looking green.
4) Delete lighting at drink holder in centre console...so cheesy.
5) three-level heated seats, not two like we have now. I love the mid setting on my Benz.
6) Dolby Logic 7 audio system. Overall a better audio system from HK or other high-end companies.

2012 Jeep SRT8: An SRT performance audio surround-sound system from Harmon/Kardon will be an available option. The performance system will feature a 900-watt amplifier with 18 speakers plus a subwoofer.

Awesome I had a feeling that if they were announced for the SRT8 that the non-SRT's would be getting the LED lights as well. Good to hear and its stuff like that which makes my decision to cancel my 2011 order a little less painful. The lack of LED tail lights on the 2011 is one of my only gripes.

Off the top of my head this is what I want on the 2012:

-LED tail lamps (which my wish is apparently going to be granted)
-Some sort of fancier DRL in the headlights (which looks like it also might be coming true)
-Power folding mirrors (not a huge issue but I did use them on my WK, it was a cool feature)
-Anything that will grant improved fuel economy numbers. The V6 was a good start!
