FYI-Buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage 27.1 mpg!

Maybe 2k miles is the break in period. Rolled 70-80mph for the first 50 miles on the interstate and then @60 for the last 30 or so. It just kept going up! Figures as I was going to test drive a SRT GC. It did 9.8 during the joy ride. Lol anyone seeing better numbers?

This is achievable with a tail wind and flat road or slight incline. Now do the same going in the other direction.

Re: FYI-Buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage 27.1 mpg!

I would be shocked if it averages 19+ city/hwy 50/50 over the long run. My Murano is rated at 26 hwy and at 60 on flat ground I can get it but my overall average is much less than the EPA rating and I TRY to baby it. 21 mog is the best I ever achieved with mostly highway. My car is smaller than a GC.

Re: FYI-Buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage 27.1 mpg!

I think it is achievable just not when you are doing 70-80. If the OP drove on cruise control at 60-65 mph the whole trip, he would have seen better mpg.

In the 3 months spent here on site, it appears none of the folks are capable of driving the speed limit; a universal opinion is that the V6 is adequately underpowered and almost all V8 owners think of their 5000 lbs porker as a fast sports car. I guess when you don't actually have a truly fast car, you have to live vicariously through what you have. But a 7.0 sec Jeep V8 is not fast. It is just as quick as a modern mainstream car.

On that type of drive the 2014 Hemi won't be far off from those numbers. This was on flat road and it did it going and coming...It fluctuated between 28 and 32. You can't read the average in this pic but it's 18.7 with most of the driving being city, not bad for a V8 with less than 300 miles on it.

Re: FYI-Buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage 27.1 mpg!

My V6 is getting 21-23 MPG straight highway doing 75MPH. I have noticed it get considerably less in a strong headwind. The first time I checked it there was a consistent 20-25MPH headwind and I averaged 75MPH and the trip computer showed 18.5MPG.

I did the math. 84 miles in 85 minutes is right at 60mph. Speed limit on the interstate is 65. Speed limit on state route was 55. 60 is dead smack in the middle so I was capable of obeying the posted speeds. Yes I think there was a tailwind as I was driving north on I75. The 3.6 isn't underpowered with the 8 speed in my opinion. I've driven a 10 second SRT so I have a good grasp on power levels.

Your confusing fast and fast for what it is......Most people that has mentioned their V8 being fast are considering that it's a heavy SUV.......According to the sticker in the door 6500 lbs and the 0-60 is well under 7 seconds. It's no sports car but not bad for what it is. If you consider a Mustang that runs 10's in the 1/4 fast then I have owned a fast car, also had a couple of bikes that were pretty nasty but I still think my Hemi powered GC is a beast! And for what it's worth it wouldn't be very hard to turn this thing into a sports car killer.

If you show up in a fully loaded car that is fast the way you consider "Fast" in the same price range then I'll be impressed.

Isn't 6500 the GVWR? That's what it would weigh with maximum cargo loaded. Curb weight is probably > 5200 depending on options. The Hemi GC is stout but not "fast fast". I've seen quad cab diesels with only a tune run 0-60 in under 6 sec. You are correct...its fast for what it is.

Diesels are a totally different breed, I have watched lifted 3/4 ton 4x4's running 38" tires and still run low 11's....SIick!

Re: FYI-Buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage 27.1 mpg!

This is in a 2013 V6. I was curious what it could do. I averaged around 65 MPH over a ~120 mile trip (~60 miles each way). Filled up right before hitting the highway so it's all highway miles. I filled up after I got back and hand calc'ed ... 27.3 MPG.

Driving 65 MPH was excruciating but I really wanted to see how good the MPG could get.

Pretty happy.

Shouldn't length of measure should be longer like a whole tank of gas to get a better sample size?
