Ha. Thats me. I'll be coming from an '07 Tahoe Z71, hopefully in a couple months. I average 15.5 in mixed driving, and I will be getting a Limited V6 with off road II and NAV.

If I can get 18 mpg mixed, I will be happy with the 20% difference. That will pay for a few car payments per year.

I was going to try to wait to see what Chevy does with the 2014 redesign of the Tahoe, but I am liking the 2014 WK2. And since I have passed 100K on my Tahoe, I have had numerous problems, which luckily have been covered under an extended warranty. But that expires in June, and I dont want to put any more money into it.

I know I didn't. I would have gotten the SRT8 if it was $10k cheaper too

I have been in love with the Tahoe's looks forever. But in no way does its interior, or the interior of any Chevy come close to competing with the Jeep...2013 or 2014.

It will be years before Chevy catches up. Chevy Loooooooves hard, cheap plastic.

I agree. I am getting 21 with my V6 in mixed driving - mostly back and forth to work. I have not used cruise control much at all yet. I have about 800 miles on it so far. My commute is about 25 miles each way and estimate 20 of that is interstate.

It has been consistently been getting better.

I was getting about 15.5 mpg mixed with my 08 Trailblazer. I bet on highway I could not get it over 20mpg unless I had a tailwind. If I can avg 19-20 with this thing I will be happy. The Nappa leather is so much better and comfy than what I had.

Re: FYI-Don't buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage.

Out of curiosity, I looked a bunch of different forums on people's experience with new cars and gas mileage.

The general consensus was that gas mileage peaked anywhere between 2,000 and 5,000 miles, with some Toyota owners saying it didn't peak until 10,000 miles.

I think winter has a lot to do with it. Takes a lot of extra energy to heat up an engine block.

I think the related Yukon Denali and Escalade compare better to the GC than the generic Chevy... I think the 8.4 Uconnect infotainment system beats just about anything out there though.

I also think the current Tahoe looks great, even if the design is coming on 6 years old. Who knows what the the new design will look like. There are rumors that the 3 platforms (Chevy, GMC and Caddy) will all have a difference in looks. I also wonder what kind of mpg they will be able to get out of a V8. We shall see.

And yes, chevy does like their hard plastics.

Re: FYI-Don't buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage.

My 5-day old '14 has 1,200 miles on it now. I took a 578 mile trip yesterday and a 233 miles trip today. This is my work vehicle and my territory is large.

In any event, I averaged 23mpg on the interstate for yesterday's 578 mile drive and 25 for today's 233 mile jaunt. I'm pleased, so far.

We have about 1000 miles on our 14. Averaging 19.8 on DIC mostly around town.
