Re: How many miles on one tank?

Maybe we should standardize reporting to be:
"How far can you go before the fuel warning light first comes on?"
and report approximate %city/highway on what engine and if 4x4 or not.

Re: How many miles on one tank?

I just filled up for the first time since the dealer did it, V6 Overland 4x4. Took 19 gallons and had 230 miles on the trip computer. So it looks like I got about 12 mpg for %15 highway and %85 suburban driving. Hopefully this will improve cause if it does not I will be kicking myself for not going with the HEMI. Traded my 08 WK Hemi that was getting the same type of mpg as this V6.

This is similar to what I get. As for kicking yourself - on the test drive HEMI just didn't seem to be noticeably faster. On another forum someone with 5K miles on his WK2 (Hemi, 4x4) already reports something resembling HEMI tick. One of the reasons I didn't get HEMI was a potential for HEMI tick - I know it doesn't indicate a problem but there is a good chance sound would irritate me.

Re: How many miles on one tank?

For me I did notice that off the line the Hemi is much more quicker but mpg was bad, avg 12mpg on my 08. So I figured the V6 would be better and since I don't tow didn't see the need for the Hemi. I do miss the instant speed that you get with the Hemi though.

Re: How many miles on one tank?

11mpg in all city driving in -15 degree weather in my 4x4 Hemi Ovlnd.....so that includes remote starting several times...absolutely brutal...but I love my jeep..big V8 warms up fast so I'm nice and warm inside...I knew what I was getting into. My 06 Overland Hemi was terrible, and so is this. Jeeps are not known for good fuel mileage. So glad I got the hemi, would have been pissed driving a gutless V6 that registers similar city mileage.

Use a trucker's friend, similar to those things they have in hospitals for bedridden gents. Leave it slipped over your junk while driving, then fluid goes down a tube into a disposable/sealable poly bag. That way you can do the tank's 500+ miles if your butt doesn't get sore first.

Re: How many miles on one tank?

Jeep.ca says the V6 will give you 1000 kms to a tank of gas. Thats about 620 miles. Anybody see this yet? Some of you guys should have them nicely broken in by now.

Re: How many miles on one tank?

Best tank I got was 507 miles using 22.8 gallons (22mpg) on "99%" highway at ~63mph cruise control on non-mountainous interstate IL to WI and back; I averaged the two lengths and was 11.5gal going up, filled up, then 11.3gal going home with an eye toward economy. The EVIC stated I was getting 22+ mpg average so it was accurate.

In 100% suburban crawl I did 351 miles on a tank before the low fuel indicator came on and physically calculated 15.3mpg when pumping 22.9gal. I drive gently a majority of the time with a very occasional romp on the throttle and of course have considerable idle time. Seems my low fuel indicator comes on consistently just after 22gal used but I don't stop and refuel immediately.

I don't run like running below 1/4 tank as an old habit, but this thread was in the back of my mind as I put on 1500+ miles at this point in about two weeks...more miles than I normally would for this vehicle's purpose, but it's new.
