Overall I still believe the Limited gives you the most for your money. The only things I ordered additionally on my V6 Limited were the 20" wheels, 8.4A radio, trailer/Tow pkg, and powered sunroof...and I was STILL under $40,000.

I do wish though that Jeep offered the HID lights "A la carte" instead of bundling it into a $4000 package. I would have opted for those brighter lights as well.
That nasty wood steering wheel was enough to make me purchase the Limited. I wanted the ORA II with the quadradrive 4WD system. I too like the look of the limited better, Overland should be called over-chromed. If that's what you want, so be it.

Most dealers do seem to be interested in riding the money wave while it is still moving. When the '14s first started coming out, three different local dealers all had more Limiteds on the lot than Overlands.

Now, I suspect you'd have to special order a Limited.

Depending on what you add, there isn't that much of a bump between the two.
The fancier dash would be a matter of personal taste, but don't knock those vented seats until you've cooled your heinie on a hot muggy July day...

Re: GC Limited Vs Overland

I'm quite happy with my limited with the 20s and top of the line Nav.
Only regret is getting ventilated seats...but that's all.

Not put off though.
Can someone explain to me how the paddle shifter's work? My wrangler is a stick and even with that I was confused. Sales guy was saying something like if you finish in say 8th and don't switch back to drive, you will start in 8th next time you start the car and blow out the transmission - I'm sure it's something I'd get used to - but just looking to hear from folks who use them. If there is a thread explaining it happy to go there too.
Also - is there a way to get less chrome?
?? You can use the paddle shifters in either sport or eco mode.
Basically if you want to down shift you just pull on the - button.

As for the bullwash about staying in 8th gear, you'd be surprised how rarely the thing gets into 8th gear in the first place during normal driving.

It won't allow you to upshift if the vehicle speed is too slow for that gear.
Conversely on downshift.

Make the salesman demo that "feature" for you. Which will be quite difficult as if you get up to speed and get it into 8th, when you try to slow down to stop and park it, the salesman could get an education. Send them back to the Subaru dealership.

PS. You can always go for the Summit...

Re: GC Limited Vs Overland

Overland has real wood and leather dash and extra leather on doors too. Overland has a honeycomb grille insert, Limited has vertical slit grille insert. As mentioned, Overland has color matched lower fascias/bumpers/wheel arches. Limited and Overland have almost the same amount of chrome except the Overland has chrome tow hooks which look good. To de-chrome you will need to buy replacement mirrors and handles like the Laredo and SRT have, or have the chrome parts painted.

Why does this real vs. fake wood myth continue? The limited has real wood, just not "open pore". The black interior specs are identical per the features thread.

I have not taken a chisel to my trim, but sure looks real to me...

?

They switch up the wood combo but if you read the descriptions... Same trim is used.

Re: GC Limited Vs Overland

Some of you are quite funny... really make me laugh...

Disclaimer, I own an Overland and part of buying was ego/luxury/etc...

When you get comparable options in the Limited so that you have similar capabilities, you get pretty close to the same in price ~$1500 (my experience in shoping online, 3 dealers in person, and my banks car buying service which is prenegotiated pricing.

Saying one thing is ugly or not does not help the OP. Stating the differences may have helped the OP. He may like the wood steering wheel. Stating your opinion like this may be more helpful. I have it (wood), but sometimes wish i didnt because I feel I will ruin it with my wedding band. The leather seems like it may be more comfortable but of course you should place your hands on both.

If you are leasing a vehicle, your opinion may change vs purchasing one. I have no proof of this but owning an overland and spending 1-2k more may not make much of a difference in the end.

What it comes down to is that most of it is subjective. Very little differences between the two are objective especially once you can add options to bring the limited very close to that of the Overland.

The prospective buyer will like either, I hope!
