Re: GC Overland Hemi . . . Purchase Questions

If you want to do any offroading then get the ORAII package. You get skids, tow hooks and more importantly
, you get Quadradrive w/ELSD. I also prefer the 18's for off road. After all, its a Jeep.

If you don't drive it like a complete idiot (just a minor one like me) then the 4X4 summit in snow mode is unstoppable w/ 20's

18's are more useful but the 20's are extremely badass looking!

Re: GC Overland Hemi . . . Purchase Questions

I have the 20's on my overland and while they suit my needs for everything I plan to do, I was concerned about the vibration issues I kept reading about and of course I ended up with vibrations at hwy speeds (currently 4k miles). Plan to have them checked out and hoping it's simple, but I may just go with a different tire to see if that helps. I don't seem to hear as much about the vibration issues with the 18s, so it's likely that the tires are the difference or because the of the extra rubber any issue with the jeep is less noticeable. otherwise, the jeep has been flawless to date.

Re: GC Overland Hemi . . . Purchase Questions

I just purchased a Black '12 Overland with Saddle. Same price as the guys above that used USAA. You cannot beat the pricing they have right now. My sticker was $46.6 and I ended up paying $37.9 I believe you can get the same price point by using a build from True Car. Good Luck

Wow! 46.6 to 37.9 is 8700 off msrp. That is almost 19% off. That is by far the best deal I have heard of. I though I was doing good at a 14%+ off of msrp.

Re: GC Overland Hemi . . . Purchase Questions

The OEM 18s are Michelins, 20s are Good Year.. that probably is more of a factor on vibrations than size. Typically 20s balance better than 18s, less tire and less tire weight.

My 20s are smooth as silk, my 18 Bridgstones are smooth as silk except sometimes rough on left turns when cold. Your mileage will vary.

Re: GC Overland Hemi . . . Purchase Questions

AAA, American Express, credit unions, and other services have guaranteed pricing with certain dealers in your area. You may have to drive an hour to one of those dealerships, but it is certainly worth paying less than MSRP. And your local dealer will probably match that price to get your business to save you the drive.

I live in Carol Stream, IL and will be looking to purchase in the fall (probably after Labor Day) I'm looking at the Mineral Grey Overland w/Hemi and IV Towing package. Would appreciate if you keep me informed on your GC deal. I definately would look into Truecar.com, Consumer Reports Buying Service. They are quality avenues to pursue.

Thanks, Ken

Ken, I ended up purchasing at Naperville Jeep. The following is what I reported in the "Prices Paid" thread:

Naperville Jeep
2012 Overland 4x4 V8, no other options, Maximum Steel/Black
MSRP $46,115
Paid $39,475 + tax/title
Lease Conquest ($1,000) and Military Retiree ($500) rebates

I felt that they were very fair to deal with. I was out of the country and negotiated all of it, including financing, by email. When I got there, they had the paperwork ready. The transaction took no more than 10-15 minutes.
