1. The leather is nicer on the BMW. It seems thicker, and they haven't "cheated" anywhere and substituted vinyl like they did on the Jeep head restraints.
2. The navigation/ display is much bigger and higher definition than the Jeep. But its not touch screen, and the I-knob thing is awkward.
3. You just can't beat the look of the leather dash cover on the Jeep. Given the price of other options on the BMW, that would go for well over $1000.
4. Controls on the BMW just don't seem to be integrated as a complete package. It's as if one person designed the cruise control stalk, then another designed the turn signal stalk, then a third put a heated steering wheel button on the side of something.
5. Engine access is much better on the Jeep. Granted I'm comparing a small vehicle with a much larger one.
6. The BMW has 50-50 weight distribution; Jeep, not so much.
7. Cruise control operates better on the BMW. My Jeep will slow down at the base of a climb then overcompensate as it climbs.
Do you have the overland or limited/Laredo?
My buddy's 3 series coupe came with vinyl seats he paid around 36k. I have the adaptive cruise which is awesome

Weather you pay $28k for a base Laredo, or pay $45k for an Overland, you are paying for the same mechanical design. Unfortunately in this case, it seems the cover design has room for improvement.
You base this on one guy reporting this? Maybe there is a rash of this in here and I missed it.....lolol

Mongoose9400 is an unknown quantity at this point
People need to realize that it doesn't matter if you pay $1 or $200k+ for a car, they all have problems! That's what warranties are for. Take it in to get fixed, or enjoy a little garage time an fix it yourself.

I have the GCO (Overland). The MSRP on my wife's Bimmer was 46, but it had 6k dealer miles on it so it we got it for quite a bit less.

This is nice to know. Thinking of trading in my JGCO on a BMW 335.

I went out and took a look at ours, it feels as though there is some type of retention feature just above the seam where the two panels meet. Willing to bet it's a "V" shaped metal clip that probably just needs some lovin'. I could be wrong. Normally I'd be out there taking it apart for curiosity's sake, and to help solve a problem, but given that the OP sounds like he's convinced himself that the solution is to jump ship , it's not worth risking damage to very nicely fit panels.

Two solid reasons why I would never buy a BMW. I can't believe they are still using that designed-by-morons POS I-Drive system.

I agree but what do you do when Jeep wont fix or even acknowledge a problem like the constant shuttering, smoking and oil burning, 4WD problems in sand, continual different QL problems just to name a few.
