Re: GC - same Jeep quality as always

I have a right rear pano sunroof rattle that is not resolved by two visits to the dealer, and a blown right rear shock (part ordered) and a right front door sill trim that is out of place even though all clips are pushed in all the way.

This week the Summit is going to be traded in for a 2013 Audi A4 Prem Plus with Sport Package, MMI Package, Advanced Key with B&O stereo...

The 335 has the same engine as the 328 but its turbo'd. Your wallet will be thinner but the car is a rocket.

Someone's going to get a great deal on a slightly used Jeep. Alvedisein!

To me it's not a step backwards in the fact that I'll be getting better service when I take it to the dealer. I took my jeep in for the sunroof popping and they messed up the whole car. Now the seat belts won't work and the plastic on the passenger side is broken and they have had it for three weeks fixing what they've messed up and they've been running us around in circles with a bunch of lies. I'd rather have a good honest dealer behind my car.

Thinner wallets no problem for me lol. My mother-in-law has a 328 and I thought it would be weird to have the same so I opted for the 335.

With a fairly loud annoying rattle/chatter you hear on all moderate bumps, with weatherseals around many windows that don't sit flush, it doesn't leak though. Not to mention I had to replace so many trim held on by double side tape that wasn't properly installed at factory. The kicker is that the darn thing is likely to flip over at 43.5 miles if I see a Moose in front of me.

Also, I will be getting close to $4000 off the Audi, which makes it a no-brainer for me. Now I won't dread getting my car serviced, since Audi in my area gives service loaners without hesitation. This is from first hand experience since I had a 2007 Audi A4.

I test drove an A4 for my wife when she traded in her Ford 500 last year. I swore off FWD cars due to the transverse mounting and inaccessibility to belt-driven accessories. Since the Audi has its engine mounted "correctly", that's really not a problem. I was impressed at how the car handled in spite of its front weight bias. I was also impressed by the dealership, and especially the training that the sales force goes through. They send them to Germany during the winter and teach them how to drive on a frozen lake.

Sure. You just wanted to be able to beat her at the track on grudge match nights...

Forgot to mention, I will be getting the quattro, awd option. Which is now mated to an 8 speed tranny.

Re: GC - same Jeep quality as always

I have an 02 Yukon 4x4 with no problems, that I am seriously thinking of trading in on a 2014 Jeep GC in Jan 2013. This thread is making me question doing that. Is Jeep quality that bad and are the dealer service departments that aweful? Or is this just the typical occasional problems that occur but can be blown out of proportion on a forum? I don't want to spend alot of money and get alot of problems. Are there owners on this forum that can give honest opinions of their ownership experiences with Jeep? Thanks, I'm starting to have second thoughts about my decision.

I'm with Scarpi, thinking of trading 09 Buick Enclave on an 14 Overland. This thread has me thinking more about an Audi Q5 or Cadillac SRX instead of the Jeep. Hearing these problems are making me a little gun shy like Scarpi.

Depends on what your alternatives are...based on my own experiences (multiple warranty trips in the first 16 months) and what I have read here Jeep isn't quite where it should be on quality/reliability, but it has not been "awful" for us and the Jeep was the best overall SUV for our needs. Our plan is to just purchase the extended warranty and hope for the best long-term...and not to obsess over minor fit and finish issues (which one can have with any vehicle).

IMO the A5 and SRX are not quite in the same category as the GC. Goes back to my comment above...depends on what your needs/desires are.
