That's a great point. I disabled the honk too, but now I'm wondering...

Re: GC unlocking itself

I guess thats intentionally programmed to prevent people from locking out themselves. Pushing the outside button assures the system that you definitely want to lock your car, from inside it might also be accidentially

Good luck

Re: GC unlocking itself

The car will honk if you left the key inside regardless of the setting in EVIC. I have it off from day one and got that warning when I left key in.
My outside button works in an instant .....

Re: GC unlocking itself

Mine has done this a couple times now. Turn off engine turn off lights open door lock inside. Close door not touching handle and start walking away and hear honks and unlocks. Go back open door lock inside close door all is fine.

Re: GC unlocking itself

I've had this happen to me. I bet the ones having the trouble like me, have their key in their right pocket and when they open the door the push the door open and hit the lock button at the same time.

I have this so programmed in from years of doing it and I think sometimes I hit that lock button while the right side is still in the Jeep causing it to think it's locking itself in.

I keep the FOB in my left pocket and it still occasionally does it.

Re: GC unlocking itself

Today after I locked my Summit, I walked about 100' away and then went back to get something I left inside. As I was about 6' from the passenger door, the vehicle unlocked itself even before I could touch the door handle. Strange gremlin in this vehicle of which Chrysler STAR says they never heard of this occurring and don't know where to start looking.
Some reply, huh?

Re: GC unlocking itself

The short honk, honk, honk upon locking via the remote happens to be on occasion. It is random. Supposed to single that the FOB is still inside the vehicle but obviously it isn't. Seems to be a random proximity issue is all where the FOB location isn't properly registered as outside the vehicle right after exiting it.

I find my 2014 JGC unlocked a lot too. At first I thought maybe I was just getting old and forgetting, but it sounds like others are having the same problem. Maybe the keyfob is real sensative.

Re: GC unlocking itself

I think the buttons on the fob could have been recessed a little.

Re: GC unlocking itself

The FOB buttons are very sensitive. I put on a FOB jacket, and it solved the problem.
thejacketstore.com and order ddga76 It fits the 2014 FOB perfectly, and prevents accidental unlocks and starts.
