Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

I know and it's a TOYOTA! If someone asks, "What do you drive?" and you say "I drive a Toyota" it doesn't sound great and I thought Toyota was known as a cheap brand that "everyone" can afford lol.

I agree with you, and I'm on my 3rd GC!

Typically, I'll get my wife a new vehicle, and she'll drive it for a couple of years, and I'll inherit it at 50K miles as my DD.

So, I'm driving the 11 GC with 63K on it, and I would consider getting a certified RR or RR Sport. And seeing a new LC at 69K before any "dealling" is very interesting, though it looks fairly "vanilla" to me.

It's funny, as the must have option to me, in any vehicle I ever plan to own as a DD, is ventilated seats. One of the best options ever, IMO!!

I agree ventilated seats are a must for a DD, especially in Florida. My sister had a GC in 2007 and I loved it which is why I got a 2014 GC because they are awesome. They are so much like a Range Rover it's not even finny. Also if someone is going to spend 69K on a car they should just go with a brand new Range Rover Sport (especially since they redesigned it for 2014 it looks amazing).

Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

Eschew the stereotypes...Land Cruiser has a very rich history and respect globally. And remember, Lexus is a Toyota, too.

But to the original question, neither vehicle ever even got to the edge of my radar screen...

Even outside of the branding the vehicle just doesn't feel like $80k. It feels like a Toyota inside with imitation wood, etc. Range Rovers have a rich history and global respect, and at least they feel special.

LOL, I bet I've told a hundred people that I can't believe RR doesn't sue Jeep over the GC interior.

Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

I know Lexus is made by Toyota which is why I would't want one. (My aunt has a 2013 Lexus LS and it doesn't feel like anything special). I agree with SW03ES that the Land Cruiser is not worth $80K. NC4 I am also surprised that Jeep hasn't gotten sued yet (it will probably happen soon enough).

It's only one of the quietest, most refined riding cars ever made but that's okay lol

As for Jeep being sued by RR. Why would they be sued? The JGC looks nothing like a Range Rover inside or out.

I was being somewhat facetious. I was so impressed with the 11 and up GCs, that I've often said the interior was stolen from RR. Down to the piping around the seats.

Re: GC vs Land Cruiser vs Range Rover

It feels as premium as a range rover, but doesn't look like a Range Rover

I still can't believe what a quantum leap Jeep made in the GC from 10-11. It felt like 10 years worth of development. (I had a 10 for a short while. It was my beater.)
