Re: Getting a Laredo E and need some help

Just a note: WK2 has a 60 page pdf on how to install the factory camera. I just used a wireless system with a license plate camera so all of the transmitter pieces are inside the liftgate. Right now it has a seperate monitor but plan to provide a direct composite video feed when I change out the radio. NB.

Re: Getting a Laredo E and need some help

padgett, how is the resolution on that wireless rear view camera? I might buy one of those for my wife's car. Where did you get that and what did it cost you if you dont mind sharing... ??

Cheers,
-A

Re: Getting a Laredo E and need some help

a) look here.

b) BUCs are available from Amazon for under $100. Avoid anything smaller than a 3.5" monitor

c) Kinda hard to say what mine cost because I have a lot of pieces laying around. The camera and transmitter are from a Peak PKORG but I used the mirror on my RV. The Monitor is a 3.5" from a VR3 system. Many seem to use the same wireless video technology (including my TV sender and a number of CCTV systems).

Did need to drill one hole for the cable/grommet behind the license plate. Tap into the white/green stripe-black pair for the backup lights. NB.

d) Guesstimate: about 400x300 pixels - enough to see a child or dog but might miss a squirrel. Wll be better when I obtain a radio/dash display.

Thanks for the link. I just looked at the instruction and it looks time consuming.

For the factory unit, yes. For a wireless, about 20 minutes (manual is useful in how to remove card from tailgate).

I'm curious to see if anyone has tried to integrate wireless camera to an aftermarket head unit.

I don't see the point. Although when I integrated a camera into my wife's nav it wasn't easy to route the wire from the trunk lid to the dash, it wasn't nearly the PITA that taking that dash apart was.
