Because anything you want to add is either part of the E Group, or is in some secondary group that first requires E Group be added.
They did this in order to say they lowered the base price by a couple grand for 2012. You'll rarely find a Laredo on a dealer's lot that doesn't have the E Group included. A Laredo without the E Group is basically the rental car version.
You can add Bluetooth connect for $400 (which includes Sirius Radio as well) without adding E Group.

Re: Getting the Push button start installed

I find it mildly interesting that this feature appears to have been dropped in the 2012 version to provide a supposed price decrease. My dealer told me specifically that a 2012 vehicle would be more expensive than the same 2011, because the entire product line was increasing in price. Of course, I couldn't find a 2011 configured the way I wanted....

On a side note: Happy to have provided a small amount of amusement...

jdbadcat: Check the glove compartment, central console, spare tire area. If you can't find the button, go back to the dealer and have them give you one!
Hey Rage. Can you tell me exact ally what your remote looks like. What buttons are on there???

Both fobs that came with my Jeep have the panic button, unlock button, lock button and rear glass unlock button.

Re: Getting the Push button start installed

All the push button start is is a button with a chip that simulates your key fob. The dealer can order you one. You pop it in and presto...

Why does the button have a chip in it? I have to have my key fob with me in order to start the vehicle.

My vehicle came with the button already in place, so I can't say for sure what it does or doesn't have - just not clear on why it would be anything more than a piece of plastic (and no chip).

i thought the button was just plastic. you have to have your key in the vehicle anyways

the 2011 has no 'chip' in the button, it is in the fob.

button can be removed from dash, insert 'fob' and use as key.

button can be transferred to another vehicle, but fob would require re-programming.

you can take your finger and start with button removed as long as fob is in car afaik.

I too have the base Laredo 4x4, and I have no button. I tried using my pinky and pushing in (with fob in pocket) and nothing. It does push in but no start.
