So I'm heading out Monday to find my ride. I've settled on a black Summit V6, no options.

I signed up for tread lightly and I have done the math on pricing thanks to help from the site.

Questions:

1.) Should I lead with the tread lightly, or save it for a trump card? I'm not sure what the area dealers are doing on pricing, most are small to medium sized and I doubt 7% under is happening anywhere near here. I can live with less but I'm not sure how to get there.

2.) The furthest dealer has the car that I want, and they are the largest, but I'd rather use them as the last resort considering the service drive would be almost an hour. Are dealerships willing to honor the invoice pricing for a vehicle swap? Or am I better off ordering? If they (the furthest dealer) give me the best deal is it a problem to go to a closer dealer for service work?

I haven't bought a car in 11 years and haven't had a payment in 7 so this is big for me. Any help would be great.

We saved any mention of our Chrysler Affiliates Discount until the very end of negotiations, and ended up getting another $3,000 hacked off the dealership's "absolute best price." We also could have saved about another grand buying off-the-lot rather than ordering, though they didn't have the exact exterior/interior color combo we wanted so we ended up ordering anyway.

I think 7% under invoice is asking for a lot. I think if you could get 3% under you would be doing very good. In my opinion you have a better chance at a better price at a larger dealer. They tend to operate more on volume and less on profit per vehicle.
