Hi Pat do you ship to Nj?

I think there are buyers, but dealers need to realize that people aren't going to pay $6000 over MSRP just to have one. Making a profit on a vehicle that is in low supply is one thing, outright trying to rip off a customer by charging over MSRP is another.
I think the dealers that are asking over MSRP are the ones that are still sitting on them. Fields Auto Group does not sell any new vehicle for over MSRP, it's one of the best policies this auto group has. The one I have in stock is a little bit weird. Black with luxury group 2, srt sound system, NO sunroof, NO trailer group. It's on our website, and I'll sell it for 1000 off of MSRP and I might even throw in slush mats.
I concur! Very happy with my JGC from Pat and getting it delivered to Ohio - smooth!

I can, I use a company called Classic Auto Transport, the guy hand writes thank you letters. That pretty much sealed the deal for me, plus he always wants the customers email and phone number to follow up after the car has been delivered. So far no complaints, maybe ArmoredSaint can give an opinion?

Re: Good deal??

So pat, I have a dealer an hr and 20 away that says they can beat the price I mentioned earlier by 500. So now we are talkin 37,400ish. What do u think the chances of the other one beating that out? I would rather buy from the one who quoted me 37900 since they are 3 min from my house. But of course 500 is 500..

Listen you can keep playing the game. You can ask the nearest dealer to beat it, they will, then you can ask the other dealer to beat, they will and it will go on that way for as long as you want it to. Or you can do the sensible thing, research which place has the best service department, which one offers you the most after the sale, i.e. service loaners, car washes, discounts on service and accessories and use that to decide which place to buy from. Sure $500 is a lot of money, but in the long run will the local dealers convenient location and any extras for being their customer outweigh the $500? That's what you have to decide. It's not the $500 it's where are you going to be taken care of the best after the sale.

My example, there is an electronics store here in IL called ABT, most of the time they are priced the same as Bestbuy or any other chain store. Sometimes though they are a little higher, I still go to them, the customer service is top notch. I had to buy a new washer and dryer recently, total difference between ABT and Bestbuy was $180. Abt was higher but I still went with them knowing that the customer service was well worth the difference. Sure I could have beat them up for more off, but it wasn't worth my time. Not saying I'm rich, my time is more valuable to me.

My opinion, go to some of the online review sites, see what others have to say about the 2 dealerships, hit BBB online and see how their service department is rated and make your decision be one that is based on the whole picture. Price is the easy part, the sale is the easy part. A dealership keeping a customer happy over the next 3, 5, 7 years is the true test.

I would tell your dealer 3 minutes from you that price that you were quoted and see what they say. If they don't match or beat it immediately, then you'll have to think about your next step. If the dealer close by is the dealer you prefer to buy from, and they have the vehicle you want, tell them what you will pay (when you're ready to buy for sure). You have to be ready to go through with the purchase at some point from some dealer for some price or give up entirely for now. By the way, these prices you can get are OUTSTANDING.

Thanks for the reply. Now say.. Both my other cars bought brand new that I own out right rightnow have NEVER been to a dealer for service since I do it myself. Do u reccommend playing the game til one quits playing? 03 Acura rsx type s. bought brand new never stepped foot in dealer since. 07 Toyota Tacoma same thing. Haven't been back to that dealer since either.

The price I got quoted was the first price they quoted in email. I thought if was impressive too but didn't think it would be that easy.. I am thinkin I will go with the local one for obvious convience reasons..

Re: Good deal??

That was my point, sure the money part is important, but where you buy should be just as important. I see alot of people get quotes from all over for the vehicle they want to buy. And dealers will just keep undercutting the competition just to do it. I guess as a salesperson, what I don't understand is why the dealership itself isn't researched. Maybe it's because I have sat on both sides of the desk. When I bought my bike I spent a few months researching prices, options, etc but I spent just about as much time researching the dealer. I wanted to make sure I would be satisfied with the service and the transaction.
It's funny sitting on this side of the desk as a salesman. Sometimes I lose deals to a dealer that beats my price by a few hundred bucks, but then those same customers come here for service and complain about the dealer they bought from, the pressure, the numbers changing when they go into the finance office, serivce telling them they need something they don't, etc. Maybe someone can explain it to me, I just don't get it. Maybe I look at the big picture, maybe my opinion is tarnished since I do this everyday. I just haven't gotten an answer that makes sense.

Back to the OP, I would see if your dealer will match the the price. If not see what they will do, maybe they'll throw in something, i.e. oil change package, road hazard, etc.

I have to agree with this. Who cares what the dealership has to offer and how nice they are to you. I also buy my cars outright and never take them back to the dealership unless it is warranty related. Too many bad experiences with young or careless mechanics so now I do it all myself. I say go for the cheapest price you can find and never look back!

that works for people that can do all of their own maintenance and have the time to do it. Some don't and for those that don't or can't they need to find a place that takes care of them.
