Re: Good lease deal for 2011? Please help!

Dude seriously... we can't tell you if it's a decent deal or not if you don't give us specifics.

Tax %
Actual vehicle sale price
msrp
residual
money factor or residual (typically they don't tell you this, but we can figure it out based on the other stuff)

Edit:
Based on $33,040 MSRP and the residual of $17,157 that you gave us before.... .and assuming a tax of 9.75%
I think you can do better. If I assume 9.75% tax and a sale price of $30k and 0.00046 money factor you should pay $385.22 per month total including tax.

I like that you've only decided to pay 1st month and licensing fees. But negotiate the purchase price lower.

Double Edit: And just use a lease calculator and other forums (edmunds) to see what the typical money factor and residual is. Like I said before that residual on that MSRP looks great. Now you just have to negotiate the purchase price of the car down. You should be able to get under $30k

Or this one is a little more straightforward

Re: Good lease deal for 2011? Please help!

Residual is 17,157.
MSRP is 33,995 (destination charge of $780 is in there...ugh)
Selling Price - 30,725
Tax 8.875
residual 52%

He claims there is a $1000 rebate in place for Laredo E. So the dealer is reducing it to $31,725 and the rebate brings it down to $30,725.

this rebate expires at the end of this month so need to do deal in May.

Thoughts?

Re: Good lease deal for 2011? Please help!

I can't find the exact money factor for May..... so can't tell if you're getting hosed on that.
Is the $1000 rebate a "conquest" rebate since you are leasing another manufacturer's car?
The "deal expires at the end of May" is just a good way to get a buyer to buy. There will be more and maybe even better deals since the 2012s will be announced.

I still think you can get to around $30k or below on the purchase price.

Bottom line, based on the MSRP, residual, and your tax % I would not lease for over $400/month including taxes with no cap cost reduction. Stay with the 1st month and license fees and get the sale price below $30k and payment will be below $400/mo

Ally Bank uses an APR which is .45%
Is this good or bad?

That's awesome. That is at the low end of what I was hearing for lease rates.

Sooo... If you were to come to an agreement to lease the Jeep at a purchase price of $30k with the same residual and msrp and blah blah blah

and you were able to get that lease rate... you should be able to get it for $369/mo tax included.

Now, will the dealer make money and make this deal for you? Not sure, depends how much he wants to sell it to you for that.

But like I said, definitely try to get it for at or under $30k and for less than $400/mo tax included without any cap cost reduction.

If you got $369/mo with nothing down besides 1st month title and license that would be a pretty sweet deal.

Your price with destination should be more like $29,400.

Like JayB said everything should stay the same and you should pay $400 or less per month. It's all about the total price negotiation now.

Re: Good lease deal for 2011? Please help!

you WON'T believe this...
I called a big dealership in the area just now and basically said I have a deal on the table, if he can better it by a good amount I would get the car from him. So he calls me back with....
$753 due at signing plus license (around $80 bucks)
$399.14 total each month

that beats my old deal by 140 bucks at signing and $1080 over the course of 36 lease payments.

Crazy...feel bad for the kid who had been helping me but this is a substantially better deal! Jump on it?

Wait an hour or two and call him back saying those terms except with $369/mo and you'll come pick it up tonight. and see what he says.

No. ask him for $369/mo tax included.

Is this the first time you've played the car buying game?

I find it interesting that generally some people are pretty excited to haggle on the price of a car, but in America not much else is negotiated as opposed to other countries and cultures.
