Well, I traded in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit in on a 2017 Audi Q7 this past weekend. Our family was wanting a 3rd row seat for our vacation travels along with a few other wants/needs. Overall, it was a great car that I would recommend to anyone. I already miss my kick-ass HK stereo as I didn't spring for the extra cash Bose Surround or majorly expensive B&O system in the Audi. I'm going to have to be more proactive and careful in maintaining my vehicle as the Jeep was white and this Audi is dark blue metallic to the point of looking black unless in direct sunlight. The technology in the Audi even one-ups the Jeep as it is fully autonomous including steering under 40 mph and it has cameras on the front reading all street signs. The virtual cockpit with Google Earth imaging is sweet, too.

Say what? Sorry but the restyled Audi's look horrible.
The Audi interiors used to be their selling point but now they just look like aliens modeled them after their space ships.
We shopped it before buying the Jeep a couple weeks ago. My wife was turned off by all the tech and me by the price. Nice car though. We drive a lot of miles and the Audi like any euro car can't go the distance without killing your patience and wallet.
We just sold our Q5 that we bought new in 2010. It had 109k miles and it was just about flawless from day one. Since I did all the maintenance the cost of ownership was laughable. You really can't make that kind of blanket statement.
Can you please elaborate more on the service costs as I'm looking to add a small suv and the Q5 was one of them. Unfortunately most of these small suv's/cuv's are hideous.
With my experience here in podunk ky...to service an audi is twice the price of servicing a jeep. We had an audi a7 and anything at the dealer was ridiculous. Keys, oil filter, filters, oil change etc.
The trend for the screens to be up on the dash may be to help with keeping the driver's eyes "more pointed at the road" while using the navigation. But I agree I don't prefer that aesthetically, myself.
You need to expect big $ service/parts costs with any luxury brand. Wife had a Volvo XC-70, then Subaru Legacy, now Audi Q5. I've seen it all.
The Q-7 is cutting edge, but since they did not design storage for any type of spare tire, there is none. It comes with Goodyear Run Flats... not my tire choice and you can't switch unless you want to drive with no spare.
My X5 doesn't have a spare time, neither did my Optima, neither does an AWD Toyota Sienna. And I'm sure there are many others. It's not that big of a deal, the Q7 isn't the first to not have a spare.
Thats right. Now that I remember, my GF's 2013 Kia Optima didn't have a spare, Instead it had an air pump and I think that sticky stuff you put in the tire (would probably mess up the air sensor in the tire).
When she traded that car in for a RAV4, she took it with her, then she upgraded again and still has that pump with her.
Well for one thing, Its diesel has been completely Re engineered and is cutting edge diesel technology. NO engine related, Cat/SCR issues, and has been returning 30-35MPG daily driving and 40-45 MPG Highway.
It has killer styling, Class leading Tech, ( Although no Car Play...) Handling characteristics that rival many sports cars, and is still practical and AWD for the rare conditions that require it. Also pick up and delivery for any warranty issues. Loaners cheerfully given if requested. 4G connectivity. 5/60 Bumper to Bumper.....5/60 covered maintenance.... Smartphone apps for trip planning, remote start, climate control, open/close windows,etc....
Not to say it didn't have teething pains, it had its fair share of early recalls, updates, parts replacements, etc .... But so did my Jeep... I love my jeep for what it does, and the last year or so have been trouble free...
My wife wants to try one, it was w/in 5K list of my Summit, and if I can get 5/60 out of it fairly trouble free, It will have been worth it. Not buying any extended warranty with this one. It will go at the end of 5/60 if its giving me any trouble...It is definitely worth looking at...
Yes it is smaller. That's one reason I'm not sold on it. However my yardstick for cargo volume is will the small 2 cycle Toro snowblower I use on my deck fit in the back with the handle folded. It fits in my wife's Audi Q-5 and that is smaller than the F-Pace. But feature wise the WK2 is more for the money.
My suggestion, go test drive one. It's a rush at this price range.
Its total cargo volume is only 3 cu ft less than the JGC. It is actually quite cavernous in the back with the hatch open. I don't think you will have any problem.
I compared them as I'd like to take the cat on an extended trip too, but we need all the space we can get... Pleased to see that it wasn't THAT much smaller than the JGC in all reality....
It's up there as far as pricing especially when you put a few packages on there. I haven't heard of the types of pricing and percentages below invoice on the F pace that was and is available on the wk2.
There are few incentives on these vehicles as they are pretty hot...50% are sold before arrival. Only thing left on lots are lower trims and poorly optioned ones... 3% off sticker is considered good on these....
Its supply and demand really, Jeep dealers lots are packed with Jeeps that NEED to be discounted, and you see yourself going and coming everyday in one... ( Not complaining... still love mine!)
But that is just not true of F Paces... A fair amt of people don't even know what they are or that they exist....
2018 F-Pace might also be available with 4 cylinder gas in addition to 6 cylinder and diesel currently available, giving a $5,000 or so price advantage over the 6.
I just tried to build one of the middle of the road ones just above the basic model and with just few packages it was dam near Jeep SRT money. Whew!!!!

I have a fully loaded Diesel coming in at about 65K ish sticker....
My 2014 Summit was 59900 Sticker... If I add what I paid to extend my Maxcare warranty to match JAG Factory warranty.. Things get closer...
Not cheap, but not totally out of the realm of reality...
I guess the real difference is the ability to start negotiations on a jeep at invoice and below as opposed to you're lucky to get 3% off sticker on a jaguar. That's huge when the final tally numbers come in and it's time to sign.
