Post Goodbye Jeep

For those of you that know me I was a huge supporter of the 2014 model and was big in the forums when the talk started back in 2012/2013 for it. I couldnt wait for the HiD lights and the 8 speed. We pushed Milous all the time for information and tried to help all members with information that we knew. I think the 2014 thread was the 1st thread to have over 10,000 posts for the forum. I believe I lost track of 2yrs of my life on these forums checking all the time (even on vacation making deals). As some (or most) of the early adopters of the 2014 models realized we were the guinea pigs. Issues were slow on mine but they didnt keep me from enjoying it early on but after time they took their toll on everyday driving. The auto HVAC wasn't working correctly even after 3 trips to the dealership (they tested on others and said that is the way it is but I call BS). The HVAC was good until they did the update. The transmission has always been somewhat of an issue but the 1-2 and 3-2 shifting was getting bad. Unless i hammered on it 3rd gear seemed to be sluggish even with ECO turned off. I have just grown tired of it plus I needed more room to haul stuff. I have 41,600 miles on it and had the MaxCare lifetime warranty, cancelling the warranty will net me about $1300 (original cost was $2100). I will kind of miss the jeep but will be moving onto something bigger, 2016 GMC Sierra.

It will be kind of sad to see it go as it was the 1st vehicle that ever ordered and had to borrow a buddies 1997 Grand Cherokee that had bad fan motor that you had to hit will a stick to stop the loud noise and the cleaning I had to do in it to last the 7 weeks I drove it, driving over 60mph was also a bad idea as it would shake in the front end. That made me really appreciate the vehicle I was waiting for.

Sorry for the long rant but I will try to check in now and again to see what's new. Maybe in time I will come back to Jeep once the kids are older and don't really need a truck anymore.

Thanks to all who made the forum great and what it is today. Thanks Scott and Milous for all you both do for this site and the WK2jeeps.com

-Pat

Good luck with the truck, but you'll be back! Thanks for the post.

Goodluck with whatever buy. I hope you will stay away from being the early tester.

Ah, the good ol' days! I remember those early days, waiting for the '14 to hatch, and all the fun on this forum. Enjoy the new wheels Sno, it's been a fun ride. I'm hangin' on to mine, hopefully waiting for the new Grand Wagoneer. Keep the rubber side down!

Re: Goodbye Jeep

Sno my man, sorry to see you go. That was a hairy couple of months scrambling for every tidbit we could get. Remember how many months I waited for mine after the thing was built? It was only due to our friends at JNAP, one in particular, that made me hang in there. When it was all said and done big red is still running flawlessly at 50,000 miles and I don't think I could ever bear to part with her.

All the trials and tribulations just made it that much more special. Happy trails my friend and enjoy the ride.

John

Re: Goodbye Jeep

i bought a 2001 WJ in 11/2000 ... drove it all over the USA until I sold it March 2013 for a 2012 f150 5.0 ... just got my WK2 diesel yesterday, the f150 is up for sale, couldn't be happier to be back in a grand.

best of luck in the sierra, I like having a p/u but i finally decided that for my purposes a utility trailer is a smarter way to go anyway - and even with the 4.7v8 WJ I always wanted to convert it to diesel. I hope I stay in love with this rig for a long time

I won't be an early tester on the GMC. If you were around when it all started you would know.

Yes John I remember. Marlon signed your jeep and he was suppose to on mine, maybe if he did I would of kept it lol. Weren't you just over 100 days withing for the "testing" to be done? GL with your as it doesn't seem like many of us are left from the beginning.

Shooot, 2014 model? I remember being on the forums day in and day out anticipating even just the new WK2 2011 model haha. I agree though the updated 2014 was a big thing here as there were a LOT of changes. Goodluck with whatever you get.

Yes, 106 as I recall! Without Marlon I would have been a nutcase. Remember when I was posting pics live from the Detroit Auto Show? My wife was so pissed but we were quite a crew back then.

Re: Goodbye Jeep

Sno,

I hope the fact that I am coming back to Jeep for MY2017 isn't chasing you away.

It was a lot more fun and frustrating waiting for the '14s. We had some support group.

There is no reason to believe that you won't enjoy the GM at least as much as the Jeep. I wish Ford had something comparable to the JGC. I haven't seen my dealer in over a year, and that was an oil change.

Post pictures of the new vehicle ... in the Grand Cherokee forum ... so we will see them.

Good Luck

That's what they said to me when I traded in my Rubicon. I actually looked into trading in my GC because it's just too nice. This thing has lost so much value already that it made it impossible so I will just finish the lease and see how I feel about the GC then.
