Got a High Altitude V6 overnight. Compare to Summit V8.

^^then the guys on the Acadia forum were lying! Or sources are different with different info. Either way, it's awesome that Jeep can outsell a brand that has 3x the chance to sell a car lol

I guess another story is that they're outselling the Durango though..

To be honest I'm really not sure what the 2014 Summit has as far as glass and other sound deadening properties. What I can say besides all that crap is that it reads extremely quiet which is nice.
As far as seats go, I literally just got back dropping off the HA and back in my Summit now. I actually think my Summit seats are slightly more firm. They are comparable though I would be happy with either. I do feel the head rests comes forward more in my Summit which I like. To rest my head back in the HA it had to go back further. In the Summit it supports my head straight up. I don't always use it but sometimes I like to when cruising.

After all that I am happy to be back in my Summit. Like the interior much more, and that's also in part because I'm a huge fan of this Grand Canyon brown interior along with all other Summit upgrades. There are things I like about the V6 HA and things I like about the V8 Summit. As much as I love the HA look, I couldn't give up what I have now for one. I'm glad I got to take one out for an entire day, not many dealerships would even let you take one around the Peking lot yourself.

There are a couple items that really get my attention that make the interior feel not as nice in the HA. Besides the already mentioned center console leather being waaay better on the Summit (where my arm rests all the time), the plastic pillars really take away from the quality feel that I get in the Summit. Only reason its even mentionable is because I'm coming from a Summit. To the average buyer they are fine and you wouldn't even know what you're missing. The other one that I cant seem to get my mind off of is the glossy wood trim looks really cheap IMO compared to the Summit flat open pore wood. It just seems out of place in an otherwise sporty looking interior. Overall, I'm looking forward to getting back into my Summit interior. Still enjoying the HA, but the stupid air suspension issue is ridiculous. On the way back from the store the entire drive the dash kept saying entry/exit ride height...even at 50mph lol. Whats funny though is it wasnt even at that height. Then I pull into the garage, manually press the lower button, it lowers, then I get out and it jacks it up to OR2 setting. POS lol

Yeah it drives great for sure! I would be curious to see how the V8 feels with that electric steering of the V6 and if it would give the heavier V8 a lighter feel.
I took a test ride in a 2015 V6 Summit while I was having a TSB performed and the steering reminded me very much of an old Buick from the 1970's. Hardly any feel of the road at all. I'll take the old hydraulic steering on my 2014 Summit V8.

FYI ..Seriously man? I know you don't like me but I am talking about 3 different 3.6L engines that make almost the same amount of power, used in 3 different SUV/crossovers and you're gonna use that as your argument? Come on.

Re: Got a High Altitude V6 overnight. Compare to Summit V8.

For those curious about economy differences between the V8 and V6 in real world applications. Same commute in both vehicles today. I reset the trip at the beginning of each drive and snapped these pics at the end of the drive in my parking spot. No traffic, just easy far suburban driving, both driven in the exact same manor with Eco mode on. Keep in mind the V6 only had 50 miles on it so I'm sure it'll loosen up slightly. mileage varies just a tad due to one way streets and having to take a slightly different route once I'm near work.

V6 HA going to work:

Agree, manufactures have a hard time hitting steering right, make it too lite and there's no road feel, make it too heavy and you are fighting it with two hands. I have had cars too far on both sides before but my 2014 summit v8 is a pretty good balance IMO.

Electronic steering as a whole is weird.

Before this Grand Cherokee I had an Infiniti G37x. I probably would have gotten the Q50 if not for the electronic steering in the Sport. There's 0 feel of the road, and it's weird how touchy it is at low speeds.

It is unnerving how random electronic steering feels.

Re: Got a High Altitude V6 overnight. Compare to Summit V8.

Love the steering on my 2014 V6 Overland. I drive a lot of rentals and im always glad to get back in my overland. My seat heaters cook you on high but they seem to do nothing on low. The steering wheel gets super hot too. I'm also trying to move into a 2015 HA with HK audio but they are hard to find in silver. Trying to get my dealer to grab one on the way to CA. A little nervous though about not getting to check it out thoroughly before they ship it up.

Nice write up, so a Delta of a bout 1.5 mpg between the V6 and Hemi in your test, about what has been reported.

Yeah, but just to make it even more fair I'm gonna do it again going to work today in my Summit so that way the test will have been done going the same direction. This is all just based off what the car says so it's by no means a 100% accurate test, but should give a good idea what each one will do with exact same conditions. I'll post up this afternoon once I get to work.

You guys are fooling yourselves if you think there is only a 1.5 mpg difference. Enjoy the v8 power, but beyond me how you guys try to wiggle and squirm when it comes to mpg.

There is _at least_ a 4 mpg difference when actually tested by a neutral party:
Fuel Economy of 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD

When you're talking 20 mpg, 4 mpg difference is like a 20% difference. Yes, 20 percent!

Hey what's going on here. The V8 goes 0.9 more in distance and three minutes less time. Always loved a V8, old school ! I wish there was an icon for Spock's . "Live long and prosper".
