I've been in the market for a new vehicle, as my 1997 Honda Accord (got it new in July of '97) was getting a bit long in the tooth. My plan was to join the Koons Group Buy and get a new 2016 JGC Summit. But the Honda had other plans. It finally gave up the ghost on Thursday after nearly 312,000 miles. Couldn't really wait for 2-3 months for one to come from the factory. I did some searching, and a dealer in Dallas had a 2015 with the exact same options I was going to get on a 2016. I did some haggling, and got them down to 6% below dealer invoice, so close enough to the Koons 7% for me. I got everything lined up on Friday, and picked it up yesterday. Drove it home today, and I can tell I'm really gonna like this car. Got a Summit with the Diesel, and on some of the hills on the way home, it didn't downshift and stayed at the same RPM during the climb. Gonna love towing stuff with this thing. I've got an order in for the Shield Production full DEF protection skid plate, and will get that on as soon as it comes in. This is my first Jeep, and I'm glad to join the club!

Awesome rig! Looks like you got the exact ride I wanted - black Summit with Platinum pkg with Black/Dark Sienna Brown interior. I ended up with a Cherry Red Summit without Platinum, but I couldn't pass it up because it was a dealer owner's demo who's wife drove it for a few months and only put 4,000 miles on it. I got a great deal on it so I'm happy and I will say I don't see too many cherry red WK2s around here but Black is still my favorite color.

Nice!!!! Looks like it came from Huffines. That's where my wife got her Acadia Denali, it was preowned. I have no idea how you kept the same car for so long! Honestly I wish I could. I've never had one longer than a year and a half.

Re: Got a new JGC

The Honda isn't the longest I've owned a car. I also have a 1969 Austin-Healey Sprite that I bought in 1992 and rebuilt. So I have a car that is older than me.

And yep, got it from Huffines. Was a really smooth transaction, I was impressed with them. Very easy to work with.

Don't know that dealer but the name reminded me of Raising Arizona.

"Sir, were you born Nathan Huffhines?"

"Yeah, I changed my name. What of it?"

"Can you tell us why?"

"Yeah. Would you buy furniture at 'Unpainted Huffhines'?"

Anyway - congrats OP. Aside from it riding a bit higher have you noticed any improvements in performance or technology over your 1997 Honda?

Looks great. I am partial to obnoxious colors so black isn't my thing but it's nice and shiny. I love that you got California/Platinum. It looks particularly good in that color.

Oh man, I'm having so much fun with all of the new tech. About the only thing the Honda had was cruise control. I did add a Nav/Hands-Free stereo later on. But nothing like all of the bells and whistles this thing has. The keyless stuff, the collision stuff, the auto dimming high beams, the air suspension, 4WD, on and on.
